 [Carol is seated in front of her console, in civvies. Actually, sitting might be the wrong term. She's more floating a few inches above her chair, legs crossed. She does this sometimes without thinking when she's sitting. She looks mostly unbothered by this whole thing. A little frustrated maybe but at most it seems to be a minor inconvenience]

So. Alternate universes are a bitch, huh? Or whatever you'd classify this as. You would think whatever bigger power it is you believe in would have decided by now that this has happened to me enough but I guess not. Oh well, what can you do? [Said oh so casually like she has just seen way too much of of this shit. Which she has. Weird happenings are sort of a thing in her life ]

Anyway, alternate universe craziness aside, my name's Carol. Nice to meet you guys. Under the circumstances and all. I'm sure you hear stuff like this a lot but let's just get this out of the way first: What's the progress on not being here anymore?

And while I'm asking things, how many people here are from Earth? Better yet, who here has heard of the Avengers, the X Men or Captain America? Or who knows anything about superheroes at all, even if it's not any of the things I just mentioned? Let's just say I want to know for my own reference.

[She'd also like to see just how many people ended up here from her world. Or a world similar to hers. Having more superheroes around never hurt. She pauses and glances off to the side, looking at something intensely for a minute as if considering something very important before turning back to the console]

Unrelated but can the fires around here actually burn things? Just, you know, curious.

[She still owes Professor Xavier her life and the X-Men gave her somewhere to go when her life fell apart] Nice to meet you. Rockslide is that big kid made of rocks, right? [More teenage boys who are gonna hit on her. Just what she needs]

Apparently superheroes are a new thing in that world too. Their Avengers only just formed. It sounds like a weird world in general. [He nods.] Yeah, that's him. I apologize in advance for anything offensive he says.

Weird. Really weird. If it wasn't for the no mutants thing I'd say they're just from a long time ago. There weren't always Avengers.

[She laughs a bit sheepishly, running a hand through her hair] We've met. I went to see Scott once and he kiiiiind of hit on me. At least I think that's what he was doing. He was really bad at it.

[Vic nods again.] I thought the same at first but they're modern. Their world's just got a bunch of differences from ours.

Yeah...he mentioned it. A few times. He'll probably try again when he finds out you're here.

Man, that's gonna be weird. [She better mentally prepare for that] Someone else told me that Cap's here but he's not the Cap we know. Have you met him?

Oh joy. [She's looking forward to that. Wally was hitting on her too but in a cute, silly teenage boy way]

It was but you get used to it after talking to some of them. I've met him but only briefly. He's not our Cap but he's still Cap.

Not our Cap but still Cap. [That's what she's gonna have to keep telling herself, she thinks] Cap is Cap in any universe, I guess. I can't imagine he'll really ever change much. Which is good because the world could use more guys like him.

Eh, it's fine. I've been hit on before.

Well, not any universe. But we could use more guys like him for sure.

[He nods.] Okay.

Well, okay, yeah I'm sure he's different in some universe. [Cough Ultimates cough] But hey, he's Cap. Who doesn't want Cap around?

The Red Skull, Doctor Doom, anyone from HYDRA... [He's just teasing a bit now.]

[She grins and shakes her head a bit]

Okay, okay. Fair point. There are plenty of people who wouldn't want Cap around. But they suck so who cares about their opinion? And to be fair, HYDRA doesn't want most of us around.

[Vic laughs.]

Does HYDRA want anyone around? They don't even seem like they want themselves around.

[She scoffs, still grinning]

No, even HYDRA doesn't want HYDRA around. If all the broken up factions and betrayals are anything to go by. HYDRA basically just hates everything.

It's a wonder they have any time to bother the rest of us if they're always so busy betraying eachother and making my favorite color look bad.

I'm convinced they have a schedule worked out. Breakfast, betrayal, betrayal, betrayal, drop a DNA bomb on Manhattan, betrayal, betrayal, lunch, betrayal, build another secret base that's inevitably gonna get blown up, betrayal, betrayal and then dinner. Being a well know terrorist organization is hard work, you know?

Well, hopefully they get dental for all that trouble. [He laughs a bit.]

Hopefully. I bet it's more likely they get like...an offer for a set of robot teeth or something equally ridiculous. Robot teeth that double as a bomb. This is HYDRA we're talking about.

The bad guys you fight sound much more ridiculous than the ones that come after us mutants.

Oh yeah, they are. And I haven't even told you about Stilt Man yet. If you think HYDRA is ridiculous, AIM is even worse. HYDRA and AIM are basically the same thing, really, except AIM isn't even pretending that they want to help the world like HYDRA does sometimes.

Oh, I know Stilt Man. We fought him in the Danger Room once. [He smiles.] AIM too. Beekeeper suits, MODOK, and the Super Adaptoid, right?

Hard to take him seriously, isn't it? [At least it is for her. Stilt Man, seriously?] Yup, that's AIM. They told you not to touch the Adaptoid, right? Because touching an Adaptoid is a really bad idea. [She learned that the hard way. This is why "punch first, talk later" is not always a good battle strategy. Unfortunately, it also happens to be her only battle strategy]

Incredibly. Thankfully he's easy to beat. [He nods.] Yeah. It was a pain to avoid once it got one of my teammate's powers but our strategy paid off in the end and he wrecked it.

Adaptoids are a huge pain. Luckily, they're not really a common thing. I'm glad they're teaching you how to handle a lot of different situations though.

I'm glad we're getting back to that at the new school. On Utopia the training wasn't as good. I can understand why the focus was narrowed down to 'things that have tried to kill us and will probably try again' and 'things that haven't tried to kill us yet but probably will soon' but that doesn't mean it was a good idea.
