[Carol is seated in front of her console, in civvies. Actually, sitting might be the wrong term. She's more floating a few inches above her chair, legs crossed. She does this sometimes without thinking when she's sitting. She looks mostly unbothered by this whole thing. A little frustrated maybe but at most it seems to be a minor inconvenience]
So. Alternate universes are a bitch, huh? Or whatever you'd classify this as. You would think whatever bigger power it is you believe in would have decided by now that this has happened to me enough but I guess not. Oh well, what can you do? [Said oh so casually like she has just seen way too much of of this shit. Which she has. Weird happenings are sort of a thing in her life ]
Anyway, alternate universe craziness aside, my name's Carol. Nice to meet you guys. Under the circumstances and all. I'm sure you hear stuff like this a lot but let's just get this out of the way first: What's the progress on not being here anymore?
And while I'm asking things, how many people here are from Earth? Better yet, who here has heard of the Avengers, the X Men or Captain America? Or who knows anything about superheroes at all, even if it's not any of the things I just mentioned? Let's just say I want to know for my own reference.
[She'd also like to see just how many people ended up here from her world. Or a world similar to hers. Having more superheroes around never hurt. She pauses and glances off to the side, looking at something intensely for a minute as if considering something very important before turning back to the console]
Unrelated but can the fires around here actually burn things? Just, you know, curious.

The X-men are mean jerk fartfaces, especially Wolverine. And so's Captain America. But I guess I know who they are. [ As if that weren't already evident. ] I used to think they were super cool, but they're not. Even if Rikki says Captain America's awesome. She's basised.
video
Well, okay, I'll give you that Wolverine's kind of a jerk. He's just grumpy. He's perfectly agreeable if you keep him supplied with beer. But what's up with you and Cap, kid? Also I think the word you were looking for was "biased".

Nice to meet you, Carol. Name's Wally - Wally West. I haven't heard of the Avengers or Captain America, but I think I've met a couple of those X-Men you've mentioned. My universe has the Justice League - The Flash, Batman, Superman, Martian Manhunter - though I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess they don't exist in your universe.
[ He just leans in a little closer, staring almost dreamy-eyed. Teenage hormones are a terrible thing. ]
As for trying to get home, no one's got any clue on a permanent fix that I've heard of. My friends all tell me I was here a few months ago, but I can't remember anything about that.
But hey, speaking of- while you're here, are you in need of a hero?
video
Huh. Never heard of any of those so I guess we're from different Earths. Similar ones though, it sounds like. Good enough for me. And thanks for the info.
[Pfft is he hitting on her? Oh that is just adorable. She smiles and leans her chin on her hands]
Kiddo, I can bench press a tank. I think I'm good. But I'll keep you in mind if I ever need help.

Ms. Marvel. Who're you? [Secret identity? What's that? She doesn't care. That's been public for a while]

I'm one of a couple X-men here and we don't have a lot of progress at all on getting off this giant turtle. Sorry I don't have better news. There's a few other X-Men here and the only Avengers I've seen here are from some universe where there are no mutants or something.
And you mean the fires in the Fire Sector fountains, right? They're just decorations. I don't think they can burn anything.
It's okay. I wanted info on how close we are to getting out of here and I got it. Thanks. Wait, no mutants? That's weird.... [She can't imagine a world without the mutants and the X-Men] You're one of the kids in the school, right? Last I heard they were still doing that.
Hmm, disappointing. But thanks. [Why did she want them to be real fire? We'll never know]

We're stuck here 'till we're not. I think is general gist of things. It sucks, 'specially when you're friends go and you get stuck here.
[He pauses, crinkling his nose.] There's a whole bunch of us here. Avengers and X-Men and people in between, Ms. Marvel.
no subject
Awesome. Just what I wanted to hear. I've heard about the whole Avengers and X-Men thing too. Apparently there are a bunch of weird alternate universe Avengers? Should be fun.
How many of your teammates are here with you, kid?

I didn't hear of them before I got here. Back at home we have the Justice League.

Yeah, the redheaded kid hitting on me right now told me about that. Apparently we're from different but very similar Earths. Hi.

I'm from Earth and I hadn't heard of X-Men or Avengers until I got here. I kinda hope I know stuff about superheroes, I am one.

Seriously, did they lose a bet or something?

And in at least Cap's defense, he was named in the 1930s.

I know a lot about him. We're teammates back home. Or we were. We've kind of both been shuffled onto different teams.

And tell me the "Captain America" name is a joke someone got stuck with after losing a bet. I can only think of one guy who would seriously call himself that.
In his defense, he was named in the 30s and was intended to be like a symbol of patriotism during the war. They even made comics about him to rally American troops.

And I've heard of the X-Men but I haven't... really met any. [One time Wolverine got body-swapped with Peter and then went to school but it's hard to tell if that counts.]
no subject
Yeah, the X-Men are kind of....isolated. For good reason. But there are probably a lot of people who have never met any.

[He may just be being difficult. Also, first order of business: at 5'6", he is considerably shorter than whatever Spider-Man Carol's used to.]
Just like I know there's a pretty decent chance the "alternate universe" craziness is probably gonna get worse before it gets better.
[If recent history is any indication, anyway. Most people mentioning Captain America or the X-Men seemed to know some other version of him.]
no subject
[The face is sort of familiar but he's young so it doesn't ring any bells. With that attitude though, he's most likely a superhero]
Pfft yeah, I'm getting that. I'm gonna have a migraine before the day is through. So, you wanna tell me what you know about superheroes?

Well, okay. Thanks. For the answer and the demonstration. Not gonna lie, I was gonna do that exact same thing so you saved me some time.

[An interesting term. Perhaps related to the one from his own world? Most people don't seem to know what he's talking about when he mentions Heroes.] In my world there is a type of person called a Hero, with command over a particular school of superhuman abilities. Does this sound like your superheroes?

Uh, yeah. Actually I....might know you. A version of you from my Earth. Since if you don't know the Avengers we're obviously from different Earths.
