[Carol is seated in front of her console, in civvies. Actually, sitting might be the wrong term. She's more floating a few inches above her chair, legs crossed. She does this sometimes without thinking when she's sitting. She looks mostly unbothered by this whole thing. A little frustrated maybe but at most it seems to be a minor inconvenience]

So. Alternate universes are a bitch, huh? Or whatever you'd classify this as. You would think whatever bigger power it is you believe in would have decided by now that this has happened to me enough but I guess not. Oh well, what can you do? [Said oh so casually like she has just seen way too much of of this shit. Which she has. Weird happenings are sort of a thing in her life ]

Anyway, alternate universe craziness aside, my name's Carol. Nice to meet you guys. Under the circumstances and all. I'm sure you hear stuff like this a lot but let's just get this out of the way first: What's the progress on not being here anymore?

And while I'm asking things, how many people here are from Earth? Better yet, who here has heard of the Avengers, the X Men or Captain America? Or who knows anything about superheroes at all, even if it's not any of the things I just mentioned? Let's just say I want to know for my own reference.

[She'd also like to see just how many people ended up here from her world. Or a world similar to hers. Having more superheroes around never hurt. She pauses and glances off to the side, looking at something intensely for a minute as if considering something very important before turning back to the console]

Unrelated but can the fires around here actually burn things? Just, you know, curious.

So you're teammates with...Captain America? [Toro isn't sure how to take it since, he's heard plenty of things about people know Captain America, but by the time the All-Winners broke up there had already been three. For her to know a Cap, she probably came around some time after the last thing he remembered from home.]

If you're really his teammate--or ex, either way--then...what year are you from? [Cautious. Oh so cautious.] I don't recognize you at all, but I don't think I would forget if we'd met before.

You're the second person today who's had that reaction to me saying I know Cap. [She hopes this isn't going to become a thing. She really doesn't want to have to explain herself to every single other person who knows Captain America. And she also vaguely recognizes this guy but can't place from where]

2011. Which I'm guessing is probably way after the year you're from, right?

[His eyes widened a little. If she really knows Cap all the way into the future, then it certainly isn't any of the Captain Americas he knows.]

...Oh. [Maybe he sounds a bit disappointed.] Yeah, that's really far. Cap retired earlier this year. [Which is the story everyone knows right now and he's not changing it.]

[Judging from that reaction, she's pretty sure they're thinking of different things. Today is the weirdest day and she's getting a headache]

We're almost definitely talking about a different Cap. Haven't there been like three or four? I'm pretty sure the one I'm talking about never retired. [Got frozen in ice and lost in time, yeah. But never retired]

You...You know about that? [Criminy, just how many state secrets were people telling in the future? He says it before even thinking that maybe there were more in the future they knew about. Maybe they didn't know about the fact the real Captain America died in the forties.]

I guess after that long, it's not as big a deal to know, is it.

I do. [She knows about Steve being frozen in the ice so the Caps that were around after that couldn't have possibly been him. Besides, she's an Avenger who is friends with Steve. She's also military. And CIA. She knows things]

Well, no. Most of the public still doesn't know. Actually, hang on. [She hits a few keys and tosses a filter up] Okay, there. Anyway, most of the public doesn't know that there have been multiple Caps. But I'm military, an Avenger and I know Steve Cap personally. I've picked up some knowledge along the way.

[It's good that she went to private because he's been trying very hard not to give too much away. He's not like Bucky. He's never been that good at keeping secrets. But when she says "Steve Cap" Toro almost falls back out of his chair.]

You know Steve? But--But--I have no idea who you are! Steve's--He's--Well, he couldn't be talking to no dame from 2011! [He's dead and so far no one's actually mentioned that Steve isn't dead.]

[This is gonna be a thing, isn't it? Carol sighs]

Again, second person today who's had this reaction. Please tell me you're not one of the Invaders too. [Though that'd explain why his face looks familiar]

What? You're supposed to know Steve but you don't even know who the members of the Invaders are? I'm Toro. [And he's a bit suspicious now.]

Hey, I wasn't even born when you guys were doing your thing. [Toro. She's heard that name] The one who sets himself on fire? Not the Human Torch, but the kid? [Haha she kind of helped capture you guys once when time fuckery happened. Awkward.....]

Yeah, you could say I've heard of you.

We're both Torches, just so you know. [Way to cut down his ego there.] And I'm not a kid...anymore. [Just ignore the fact he looks barely over 18.]

I know, I know. But I had to tell you apart somehow. [She did not mean that as an ego cut at all. Way to go, Carol] You look like a kid. But you're actually older than me so.

Man, I think today just really wants me to have a massive migraine.

You could have just used our names. [Since everyone knew Jim Hammond's name. You don't forget the guy who killed Hitler.] I know I look young, but I was a kid during the war. It's been over for four years now.

[Even if sometimes it feels like it never completely ended.]

Okay. I get it. Sorry, won't happen again. [She holds up her hands in a surrendering gesture. She hadn't meant to offend Toro]

So....you and Bucky are both here. But the Cap who's here isn't the Cap from our Earth? That must be rough.

[Toro sighs and waves a dismissive hand to let her know it's forgotten. She's new and confused and he's getting uprooted when he shouldn't. He just wants things to start making sense again around here.]

Just forget about it. Buck and I are dealing with it. I've never talked to the guy so I don't know what he's like besides the fact Bucky says he's not Steve. [He doesn't say "our Cap" because Toro's had three.] That's good enough for me.

Yeah, a bunch of people have told me he's not the Steve I know. Alternate universes continue to be a pain in the ass. [She's getting a migraine. She can handle a lot of shit but this shit is particularly crazy]

Man, this is ridiculous. I'd take having to deal with Norm Osborn's crazy over this any day.

I hear ya. I'd rather go back to fighting Agent Axis and Warrior Woman. Even Future Man wasn't this bad and his gal tried to trick us into think Steve and Buck were zombies.

[Sometimes he feels like he's suffering from information overload here.]

That all sounds like a picnic compared to a buttload of alternate universes, time travel and possibly some kind of crazy bullshit magic. Where is Doctor Strange when you need him? [Not that Doctor Strange could probably help here but you never know. It also doesn't occur to her that Toro probably has no idea who that is. Oops]

Doctor Who? [Name doesn't ring a bell.] We've got time travel and weird magic, but no strange doctors unless you count that creep who used to work for the Red Skull.

Right. Sorry. From the past so you don't know who that is. Doctor Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme. Which means that he's a really strong magic person. [Carol makes a face] Ugh, Red Skull.

[Weird, but he's seen plenty of weird and knows the future gets weirder and weirder. His tone becomes a bit more serious.] ...So this Doctor Strange would be able to get us out of here if he was around?

You know, I hadn't thought about it but....possibly. I've seen him do some crazy things in the past. [Like communicate with her through her cat in her dreams. Or pull her soul out of her body and then put it back] I haven't seen him, though, so we're kind of out of luck.

What's this fella look like so I can keep an eye out for him?

Tall and built like a twig. [She loves you, Stephen, but it's true] Dark hair with some gray at the temples, a really impressive goatee and he's usually wearing some crazy cape with a high collar. Trust me, you'll know him when you see him.
