[Seeing herself looking back at herself in the little window on the corner of her monitor, Korra gave a stumped look and tapped the little camera lens that the desktop was using. Seeing her huge finger tapping back at her caused her a smile and she cleared her throat. Music can be heard from the speakers.]

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. Oh, and food, meeting at a restaurant would be good. [She stares at her monitor screen with her lips pushed to one side of her mouth.] And any advice or pointers on these things- [She points at the monitor, which just seems like she's pointing at the viewers.] would be welcome too. The kedan gave me a quick once over for it, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough.

[There's an long awkward pause as she looks left to right nervously.]

[Korra didn't get half of that but she’s happily laughing anyway.] Okay, now I know you’re not serious. [She actually wipes a tear from her as she forces her laughter down so she can talk.] I swear if I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re my best friend Bolin playing a prank on me!

So, Leo McDreamy, you’re interested in firebending and actually work on cars? [The only kind of mechanic she knows.] If I had mine I’d be glad to have you fix it.

Hey now, Miss Hotstuff, I'm totally serious. Look at how serious my face is. [HERP DUMB GRIN GOES HERE] And I work on everything, from the smallest of cars to 200 feet long flying warships. But hey, whatever right? You got the gist!

[Just.. avoiding the whole firebending thing for now like a winner...]

[That instantly gets her to smile with a chuckle.] Now that is pretty serious, sorry I doubted you. Warships? There’s warships on the turtle? [That brought all sorts of new questions to her mind.]

What kind of wars could happen here??

Well, not on the turtle, [yet] but I built one back at home. [Oh. He misses the Argo II now. 8'( BUT! If he shows any melancholy, it's only for a split-second. BACK TO SEMI-SERIOUSNESS] Besides, we're not exactly about to go to war here. I think. I mean, who knows what the physically hot but emotionally cold Emperor's thinking.

Ah, gotcha. The United Forces have an incredible naval fleet, I got to admit they were impressive. Have to admit, I wasn’t expecting you to be a gear head at first. So do you have something to make it pretty easy for you, like metalbending or is it just something you really like to do?

[War with the Emperor being a even a remote possibility isn’t the topic she wants to dive into. After all, she barely spent her first night in her new home.]

I could just do it naturally, I guess! I inherited the whole can-do-metalworks thing from my dad, though my mom used to teach me about mechanics and stuff. [Up until she died, at least. 8'(]

[Oh, and that reminds him!] What's metalbending, anyway? Because right now it kind of sounds to me like really flexible metal Olympic gymnasts.

My parents taught me the basic survival stuff for living at the south pole, but nothing cool like mechanical things. I never even learned how to drive a car, not even my own. [Until she suddenly had to drive one and crash/parked it.]

Metalbending is a sub school of earthbending. Using the minerals within most metals an earthbender can control metal just like they can rock or dirt. The less pure the metal is the easier it is to control and manipulate.

The police force back home is nothing but metalbenders and they use metal cables in their suits if they need to get serious. When I first got to Republic City I kind of had a misunderstanding with hem and we had a scuffle. Still though, it's pretty impressive stuff.

[ Oops sorry Korra you're speaking to one of the most ADHD demigods in existence. His eyes wander off to something off-screen (likely one of his design sketches, or his unfinished inventions), and he blinks when she's done. ]

So bending is like, a fancy word for magic?

[She can’t stop herself and palm meets face.]

Yes, yes it is. Magic over an element, or four in my case.

Hey, that's pretty cool, then! Usually people in my world can only lord over one element.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s kind of awesome. Your home sounds a little like mine. Was it really different from Tushan?

Uh, well, living on the back of a giant turtle kind of makes it a little different, but I see a lot of machines and technology in the Metal Sector that could have been in my world.

And, I mean, mythological monsters aren't trying to kill me on a regular basis here, so there's that, too!

Yeah, the Metal Sector is a lot like Republic City, except really futuristic.

Mythological? [Not that she doesn't believe him, she just isn't sure what qualifies as mythological on his world.]

So, like, you got cars and stuff too? [And a little bit too excitedly:] Do you have hoverboards?

And yeah, mythological, like Roman and Greek gods and Titans and Gaia; you know, the whole shebang.

Oh yeah, Sato-mobiles are all the rage and pretty hard to drive. [That's just opinion.]

Hoverboards?

[Nope. She sure doesn't and all she can give is a very muddled look.] Wanna run that by me one more time?

Hoverboards, like skateboards with next-generation anti-gravity technology. Come on, don't you guys have Back to the Future in your world?

[And he pauses, trying to figure out how to explain about gods and demigods and complicated god backstory drama shit and then he's just like,] You know what, forget it; you wouldn't want to meet them anyway. Let's just say they're mostly jerks and leave it at that, caprice? [Leo that's not even the right word]

Back to the future? That doesn't make any sense. [No television yet, they still have to get over the radio back home. Poor gal.]

[That's good, she was having trouble trying to follow all through all the crazy relationships part.]

[Unsure of what to say to "caprice" she simply tries the old standby.] Um...yes.

The movie? [All kinds of lost have found each other and congregated on Korra.] No, we have radio shows. None of them named Back in the Future. [”Back TO the Future” Korra, get it right.] If you mean a board in the air, we have glider sticks that airbenders use to fly…?

Thanks? [Trying to decide just how exactly to feel about Leo is pretty difficult for her at the moment.]

[Wow Leo is totally cringing about your lack of knowledge about things that don't even exist in your world, but then he hears "glider sticks" and he's like OMG!!1!]

Glider sticks? Can you tell me more about that? [SOUNDING LIKE A GIDDY 8-YEAR OLD BOY]

[The sudden change from ADD teenager to ADD little boy is overwhelming enough for her to stammer.] Uh, well, glider sticks-er, staffs. They-uh-they fold out so the “wings” can catch the wind airbenders control so they can fly.

I don’t think I’m good enough at airbending to do that yet.

[Sorry you're getting the full force of easily excitable, ADHD Leo Valdez, brosis] Whoa! That sounds like total awesomesauce! And, well, do you know the mechanics behind it? Or can you draw them, at least?

There's an actual sauce of that? [Korra STAHP.]

[And she thought he was a bit hyperactive before.] Well some of them have switches, but the traditional ones open by pressure, I think. But yeah, I can draw them. They’re really simple.

[Then her eyes widen as a thought strikes her brain and her energy hits a spike.]

Would you be able to build one? How much would you charge!?

[If she could get one, it might help her practice airbending better just like Ikki and Jinora used them. Or maybe even cause all that airbending training to finally click!]

Good thing Leo's too focused on wanting to build this glider stick thing that he totally forgets to unintentionally insult your intelligence!]

That would be the best thing EVER! [She’s frantically looking for that paper and pencil, which is right on her desk.] I’ll draw them up right now! When can I give them to you? Do you prefer pen or pencil? How much time would it take? How do I find you? Do you like noodles?

[Ikki would be jealous of how fast her questions fly out in rapid succession.]
