[Wanda learned years ago how to hide her true feelings behind a calm, almost bored expression. She knew how to control her body language to seem relaxed when she wasn't, and how to rely on subtle nuances of tone to get her point across. So it's not difficult to hide the anxiousness and tension she feels in her Water sector suite. She's separated from her brother, really separated, for the first time in her life, and also from the team she's come to trust and rely on. In some ways, she even considered them her friends.

Lips pursed, she flips on the console in her suite and leans back in her chair, by all appearances entirely unruffled by her current circumstances. Dressed in her Ultimates uniform, she crosses one leg over the other and periodically takes sips from the glass of water in her hand.

Those familiar with her alternate universe counterpart might notice a striking resemblance to the Scarlet Witch they know. Though she's at least ten years younger, her hair darker and straighter, and her uniform entirely different, her face and bearing are remarkably similar.]

As it seems highly unlikely that our hosts have provided full and completely honest details about our situation here, I'd appreciate any insight you all may have, or information they may have neglected to to give me during their orientation.

[After a brief pause she continues, though the words are completely foreign to Wanda.]

It also appears to be required that I find work as well. Unless anyone's spoken to a man by the name of Fury recently, recommendations as to where I might begin looking would also be welcome.

[She ends the transmission without offering her name or listing any of her affiliations save that of Nick Fury. Those who know her will contact her, she's certain, and perhaps those familiar with Fury will as well. Anyone else she has no intention of enlightening any more than is absolutely necessary. Not until she gets a better impression of the climate of the city and the other foreigners living in it.]

Some of the population knows more detail than others as to the nature of this threat, though as I understand, it's a relatively new development in that regard. The Emperor has promised to speak of the threat as it becomes necessary - necessary in her eyes, of course. As for the how - our souls were summoned, apparently, through the Emperor's magic.

[Nod.] There's plenty beyond that, however big it seems a market at the moment. The city seems rather prone to infrastructure destruction. [And then pretend she rambles off a bunch of various jobs!!]

[Wanda listens patiently as Peggy explains the variety of jobs there are to be had in the city. She's concise, informative, and from her manner alone, Wanda finds she respects her. Feeling far more prepared in that regard, she tucks away all that she's learned for the moment and offers Peggy a quick smile.]

Thank you for that. I'll have to see what I can find.

[Pausing briefly, she cants her head to the side.]

Tell me something, is it common to find many others here from your own world? Or...an alternate version?

You're welcome. There are some tensions with the locals, which I should warn can also makes it a bit challenging to keep a job.

For the former, it varies. There are several from my own world here, but I know those who are very alone. And for the latter - it seems more common for some than others. I've encountered it myself, with an alternate universe granddaughter. [Because approximately twenty-seven is legit for grandma age.]

Then it appears I'm not the only one finding themselves with family they didn't expect to find. Apparently I'm to mother twin sons, one of whom is here.

[Her smile is polite, more than warm, offering information back as it was given.]

You'll have to tell me how you manage the oddness of the situation.

[WELP. Peggy offers her a sympathetic, wry sort of smile.] I've had the time to get used to the idea, though I was already friendly and familiar with the girl before she revealed the familial connection to me.

[Her lips twist just slightly in her smile. Of course.]

Considering his very strong and remarkable family resemblance and that he has the same abilities of my brother, I'm not certain it would have remained a secret for very long.

Does that make it more easily believable? I'm not sure how much resemblance passes in my own situation.

In this case it makes it all but impossible to deny.

[But Wanda doesn't want to speak of her family much to a stranger, no more than they have if she can help it.]

Is there anything more you can tell me about the situation in this city, the locals, or other foreigners I might find useful?

[Peggy picks up on the shift, but she's not all that bothered by it, and she easily carries on with it.]

Currently, the locals are a bit at odds with the foreigners over the rationing. The resources were already fairly limited, and they feel we're draining them further. The turtle itself is sick, which is what began the rations, as the food supply has begun to deplenish with the illness.

Are steps being taken to correct the issues of limited resources or healing the turtles illness?

[She reaches a hand up to tape her lips, considering the matter. Her own powers are such that perhaps she could influence both situations, but Wanda is hesitant to do anything on a large scale until she knows more.]

There are two foreigner initiated gardening efforts in place. One is a hydroponics garden, the second - as potentially strange as it sounds - was started by a dog.

As for the turtle, no one's been able to find the cause of the illness just yet, which hinders hopes for healing.

[A dog? Yes, that sounds very strange indeed.]

I see. It seems I have a great deal to look into myself. If you don't mind, I have a great deal to consider. May I speak with you more later?

[There is a great deal that she has to absorb, settling in to do, and the more she speaks with people, the more she finds she needs a break to process it all.]

[She nods, with complete understanding. It is a lot to take in, back of a turtle alone.] Of course. And I'd be glad to help, should you have more questions. [Pause.] My name is Peggy Carter, for a belated introduction.

[Oh, they hadn't introduced themselves, had they?]

Wanda Maximoff, though you may hear some call me the Scarlet Witch as well. Thank you again, Peggy.

[Nodding, she disconnects.]
