Video || gross computer goo, why, turtle
[ Roy's on a public console right now seeing as his is a little... predisposed. Which he's about to tell you about, settle in for a story, kiddies. ]
Okay, so, has anyone tried to take apart the consoles? Here's a handy warning to the wise: DON'T.
[ This is Roy's wide-eyed, semi-serious face (more serious than usual, at least). ]
There are some parts that might make sense from a mechanical standpoint, yeah, maybe, but mostly? It is filled with this nasty, creepy, goo and it floods out all over you and I might have screamed like a little girl.
[ Biting at his thumbnail here and he tilts his head to the side, looking a little freaked out because omfg what has just happened in his home, why is life on the turtle so weird. ]
Aaaaand now it's regrowing. This is some crazy sci fi shit and not in the hot aliens in latex kind of way. Like messed up Star Trek bordering on Alien kind of crap. If I start getting some kind of weird parasite or sickness or end up in a cocoon or wake up with an alien baby, tell Kori I super-like her. And build me a memorial.
But first get me a doctor.

Also there's a pause, before Katniss smiles. Except it's more of a baring of teeth.] Because he's a Victor. One of twenty four children who were put in an arena and forced to fight to the death for the entertainment of the Capitol.

also, gurl you are getting such an eyebrow raise for that. calm down, tiger. ] What, like Gladiator? Where do you people even come from?
no subject
She shrugs] Panem. The president controlled the populace through fear. The Games were part of that.

Not going to make an airline joke, not going to make an airline joke. ] Sick... I'd like to tell you it didn't last long for the Romans, but...
How young is 'children'?
no subject
She doesn't understand his comment about Romans, so she ignores it. Because Katniss is boss] Twelve to eighteen. A boy and a girl from each district.
no subject
Rude. And there's some serious concern face going on here. ] Twelve? And twelve year olds have to kill eighteen year olds.
How many districts?
no subject
Twelve. Thirteen, but one went underground and left the rest of us to fend for ourselves. [She looks away from the camera] It's done, now.
no subject
[ Actually said seriously because what the flying purple fuck ] Would having 13 instead of 12 make your chances better? [ He's not sure he can really blame people for that. Mothers and father want to protect their children. Not everyone is a soldier, they're not supposed to be. ]

[She rolls a shoulder] Every District was responsible for something. Luxuries, coal, food. District Thirteen was the nuclear weapons District, so having them on board sooner might have been helpful, yeah. [She knows why they couldn't but that doesn't mean she can't be bitter]

[ Blinking. It's not really his place to argue about it, he sure as hell wasn't there, but the comment comes to mind and thus out his mouth anyway. ] Or, it would meant the second someone decided to rebel they'd still have the means to level them and pave over to put someone else who'd behave there. [ Said in a quiet, somber tone. That's how you do absolute control. ]
no subject
[She shakes her head, sharply] No, Thirteen had control of the weapons. The Capitol had their own. They worked out a deal between them that mutual annihilation wouldn't be great when there are barely enough people alive now to support the human race. Thirteen went underground, and the Capitol bombed them and used it as a warning to keep the other Districts in line. Don't rebel, or you'll end up like Thirteen. [Her jaw tightens] My District didn't have the advantage of an underground bunker.
no subject
[ .........oh. ] And they thought having twelve districts essentially enslaved was the answer to that? Not that throwing nukes everywhere is a great idea, but it's never just one option or the other.
no subject
It was seventy five years ago, I don't know what they were thinking. A lot of people would say their plan worked, but Thirteen didn't have to live under the Capitol with us. [Almost absently] They had their own problems, though. Things are supposed to be different now, but we'll see. [Wait] Or someone else not trapped on a giant turtle will.
no subject
All things considered, giant turtle sounds like the better option, but what do I know?
no subject
It's the same. This place is the Games all over again, down to the ruler who doesn't care what happens to her people so long as she can stay in control. At elast we stopped it, back home.
