I suppose I should make a proper introduction, and this seems the best way to do it although it's dreadfully impersonal.

I am Dr. Hannibal Lecter. I'm a psychiatrist, and was a physician for many years before my retirement from that field. However, if I've understood correctly we are facing some difficult times here, so I am happy to offer my medical services if needed. A shame about the rationing, too. Proper nutrition is essential, and there's nothing quite like a well-cooked meal.

But, regardless of the situation, I am very pleased to meet you all and I hope we can get to know each other better.

I can't think of anything at this time, unless there is something of importance that isn't common knowledge that you know of.

Hmm. Nothing I can think of offhand- though if I may make a recommendation, Wayne Industries operates a number of clinics throughout the cities. You might look for employment in one of those. But medical expertise is valuable in almost any situation.

I will take a look, although my medical work will likely be volunteer. If things settle down, I will take patients for therapy again. Do you know of any other practicing psychiatrists here?

I believe you would have a monopoly on the practice, doctor. As far as I'm aware, we have no other psychiatrists.

Then I am needed more than ever. I hope I will do a satisfactory job. [He also hopes you all have interesting problems.]

I am sure there are many who would be happy to have you, since it's likely that the practice has moved on a great deal since my day.

Your day? And when would that be?

The year 1873. [He really hopes there's been some improvements, anyway.]

I am from the year 2013, so I can safely say the practice has improved. There have been many revolutionary thinkers since your time.

And they are at something of an advantage, since they're able build on the revolutionary thinkers that came during my time. The progress of knowledge is a wonderful thing to watch. [He's had a long time to watch it and give his small contributions (mostly sheep-related). It's one of his favourite things about immortality.]

Yes, it is. You are at the peak of the point when psychiatry started being viewed less as a branch of philosophy and more as a science; I admit I would have liked to witness such a period in time.

Unfortunately, I've likely paid less attention to psychiatry than I should or I would be happy to regale you with stories. My own specialty lies in animal biology. [He's rather apologetic about that.]

I've studied biology as well. [Because he's studied pretty much everything.] Mostly human biology, though.

A fascinating subject, certainly. I've always favoured ovinology.

I'm afraid I haven't studied sheep all that much, unless you count cooking as study. [And sometimes that cooking was people instead of sheep but that's nitpicking.]

They do tend to be somewhat under-appreciated as scientific subjects, though of course their culinary merit is well-known. [He prefers fish, but can acknowledge that there's something ironic about a wolf tending sheep.]

And that reminds me, would you happen to know where the best markets are? It would be good to know, if the rationing lifts.

I believe that most of the grocery markets are found in the Water Sector, but the Wood Sector is where you'll find the fish market. Their stores are somewhat reduced now, but if the rationing lifts I'm sure you'll find them interesting.
