I suppose I should make a proper introduction, and this seems the best way to do it although it's dreadfully impersonal.

I am Dr. Hannibal Lecter. I'm a psychiatrist, and was a physician for many years before my retirement from that field. However, if I've understood correctly we are facing some difficult times here, so I am happy to offer my medical services if needed. A shame about the rationing, too. Proper nutrition is essential, and there's nothing quite like a well-cooked meal.

But, regardless of the situation, I am very pleased to meet you all and I hope we can get to know each other better.

That would be very helpful, if you could, sometime. Especially the tailor. [Because how can he live without oddly colored specially-made suits?]

Turtle or otherwise, I find there will always be some who are civil and some who are...less-than. I prefer to limit my interactions with the latter. [And those interactions probably involve eating them.]

[Henry gives him the name of a tailor that I haven't come up with in the Metal sector whose work he has found reliable. Lecter may have noticed by now that Henry's shirt is immaculate and his jacket and waistcoat, while tasteful, display a certain amount of quiet flash.] It is a pity you could not have met Mlle. Favrielle nó Eglantine; her work was beyond peer. But this fellow will do quite well, I think.

Would that crudeness and vulgarity could be avoided altogether. And yet like death and taxation, they are inevitable. All one can do is keep them at arm's length.
