[The image displayed is of nothing human. It is, in fact, nothing more than a panda in a pair of darned pants standing straight up as if he knows no other way to stand. He’s obviously in the new “home” he’s been given, and if it’s possible for him to seem even more out of place, he somehow manages it. It’s similar but it’s not, and he’s never seen anything like the kedan before.
He’s entirely out of his element, and if it was ever doubted that a panda could display that much with expression, he’s living, standing, awkward proof that a panda can do just that.]
Uh. [Brief, something that was almost a word but never quite made it. He has no idea about these devices except for what he’s been told, and he still finds it difficult to believe. Others can see him, he can see them, and they can speak that way. How is that possible?] So. Hi. This showing a picture, right? A…a moving one, I guess. I don’t really understand, but that’s what those guys told me, so it probably does, right?
[He’s blathering. This is hardly anything new with him, and he realizes it, and that also shows. He runs a paw over his face, ears popping right back into place when it passes over them.]
Yeah, so, the introduction thing, I guess. I’m, uh, [awkward] Po [still awkward] and I’m from a place called the Valley of Peace, and [little less awkward] I never really thought that when you ascended, it was to another city. Thought of it more like another plane. But that’s okay, because you can’t ascend anything when you’re asleep, but you can apparently get trapped, and that’s pretty, uh. That really sucks. Like. It sucks a lot.
[He’s still obviously out of his element, but he stands up a little straight and stops fidgeting.]
Is there anything that whoever else here can tell me that doesn’t suck?
[Things that suck less are also wanted, and it’s after a close-up of a bear paw that the image disconnects.]

I don't think I hear anything. [Being so close to the microphone, her voice sounds much louder and slightly garbled.]
...wait. [She backs up so she's just sitting, leaning forward.] You mean when you use the keyboard there?
no subject
The board thing, yeah! It's, uhm, the nails. [For a demonstration, he puts one paw to the nearest wall and taps it with just his nail, which produces a loud, thumping noise the harder he hits it.] That. Only it's different when it's a wall. You see now?

[Feeling sorry for him, she just inclines her head and smiles weakly.]
I don't think I know any-
[She stops mid sentence and that wan smile flourishes to show her happy teeth.]
TEMERAIRE! [As she practically yells the name, Korra also points at Po victoriously.]
no subject
Even if it takes more time to say something, because he can't imagine it'll be as easy as talking.
And he's about to say as much, but then she's yelling, and ow. Ears! He doesn't know what she's just said, but it sounds like she's made some sort of realization, so he runs with that.]
Tem—who? What? Is that somebody you know?
[Because she's pointing to him, and he is not Temeraire. He is, in fact, Po.]
no subject
Yeah, Temeraire. He’s a pretty smart dragon and has to use his claws when typing too. We had a nice conversation in Chinese. Maybe he can help you learn how to use it better?
[Then she remembered when Temeraire had happily asked how tasty skybison were and she gave Po a concerned look.] But, um, maybe you should talk to him over the console before doing anything in person.
no subject
Dragon.
Dragon dragon dragon DRAGON DRAGON it's so awesome, it's so awesome, Po can't even begin to explain. So that must be the one he spoke to, then. Or were there more? How many dragons would he meet, and...why wouldn't they be able to talk face-to-face?]
Whoa, hey, he knows Chinese, too? [Score another point for China in this place, seriously.] Why not? Does he breathe fire without thinking or something?
no subject
Actually, I don’t know if Iskierka has used the console for texts. Temeraire has though, so he probably knows how to type in a way that’s comfortable for you. Just let him know you're not tasty.
[She shrugs.]
If all else fails though, you could just use this video option thing.

[What. Dude. Why? Why is Po being considered to be eaten? What is this nonsense?]
Because I'm a bear? Do they not try to eat humans? What's the deal with all the bear hate?
no subject
[A pause before she realizes that those very turtles preferred their privacy.]
Ahem. But anyway, yeah, the dragons come from a world where they live together with humans. And nothing but humans, so I just wanted to give you a heads up on that.
[Placing her elbow on the table and her chin in her hand, Korra looked at Po with a frank look.]
The dragons are nice once you talk to them. [Even Iskierka, somehow Korra became fast friends with her.]
That doesn't mean all the foreigners are nice. Just most. So if anything comes up and you need help or food, just let me know. Kind of my job to protect everyone, but I like doing it.
no subject
That wasn't related to animals, of course. And since she's talking about, since she's talking about him being eaten...maybe it's okay to ask her.]
Speaking of food, this rationing thing? Not really working for me. I don't mean to complain, but...eggs. It's, I don't understand eating them. And, here goes nothing, but. [His fingers fidget again.] Meat. What...is that, exactly? It's not something—humans aren't eating animals, are they?
no subject
How could she tell that to a talking panda?]
Um... I-
[Her eyes quickly dart around, looking for anything that might give her an idea of how to handle this.]
Yes. [Her voice is lulled to a saddened tone.] With the rationing that's been going on, just about everyone has been eating what they can get from the sea. The only fruits and vegetables we can get come from what little crops the farmers can grow. There are a couple of foreigners that have helped, but providing for the whole city is really hard.
no subject
That's all he needs to hear to know enough. Pandas, he's been told, are endangered. Have them been eaten to a point where few of them remain? Have they been hunted down, killed, and served in a stew? And what of the others in Po's life, of pigs and rabbits and geese?]
Oh.
[That's all he can say for a moment, eyes torn between the floor, the console, or the back of his eyelids. From the sea, few fruits and vegetables. Well. He'd have to make due with what he could, then, and stay as far away from meat as possible.]
Well, that's—that's later. I'm sure there's bread stuffs around here. It's, I'll. I'll figure it out. Make whatever else I can. You guys, though, you can have any meat and eggs I get. That's a good thing for you, right? More food!
no subject
There's noodles and rice too. Just not as much as everyone's used to. But if you really need some vegetables and even fruit, there's a white wolf that can grow them really fast. I'm sure there's other stuff to eat aside from those, but I pretty much stick with what I know.
no subject
Do they eat bears?]
A white wolf? [Is that the one he's talking to? It has to be, doesn't it?] Talks, right? I'll have to ask after that. Thanks for the head's up, Korra.
no subject
Any time Po. Just remember, call me if you need something. Even food, I can work around that I think.
no subject
She sounds wonderful. [And not like a bandit, which Po appreciates. (Not that all wolves are the same, of course!)] I figured I'd just work more hours in the day than three, save up my money and...yeah, spend it on food. That's not so difficult, I don't think.

[And then, there's that smile again.]
Thanks for being so encouraging.

But I'll talk to you later, okay? I'm starving and we can figure out the training stuff once...everything gets settled. Sleep well, okay?
[There's a bear paw close up to cut the feed, and a pair of ears wobbling in the background just before it, if she looks hard enough.]
