I knew I’d get this thing on eventually. All it it needed was a few swift kicks to help it along.

[Hawke looks rather smug with himself right now. Despite the crash course given to him, of which he may have zoned out of once or twice, he understands this console about as much as he does magic. The fact he got it working on his own means a lot to him.]

Alright, from what I hear this place is in need of heroes and the like. So much so in fact that they’ve started kidnapping people right off the street. Now I don’t mean to criticize your emperor, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Generally it’s considered good manners to ask someone for help instead of just grabbing them by their short and curlies and just dragging them off somewhere.

[He wags his finger in a very ‘you should be ashamed of yourself’ manner.]

Maker, at least people in Kirkwall gave me the illusion of choice before asking me to do something stupid and dangerous. They usually pay me too.

[When he sighs it’s utterly exaggerated.]

Oh well, no use in complaining I suppose.

[Of course that doesn’t mean he’s actually going to stop anytime soon.]

Since I’m here I may as well play along. Chances are this is all some kind of Fade...dream...thing, so what’s the worst that can happen? Besides the possibility of demonic possession.

[He's pausing a moment to consider.]

The BABY turtles. Those are fun and adorable and the size of your average...

[All of the references Enjolras might use suddenly seem out of place when it comes to size.]

...Carriages. They're about the size of one of those [Presumably most worlds have those, right?]

The plumbing situation is also rather new. I think I'd have quite liked showers at home.

The first two I have more than enough experience with. The second I can handle well enough.

[Why wouldn't there be giant baby turtles?]

But the last I'm entirely new to.

It seems so mundane a thing to be worked up about, I do admit.

Still, it certainly WAS a bit...different.

[People apparently wash their hair more than once a week now. It's confusing.]

Suppose I'll get used it eventually. The same with the rest of this machinery.

[He gives the console a small swat with his hand. Why must everything be so complicated?]

It does seem to get a BIT easier as time goes on. Fiddly, perhaps, but easier.

Well, I do enjoy fiddling with things.

[Anyone else would snort, probably at this moment. Enjolras, for his part, appears to look like he's attempting to figure out if this means what he thinks it does. He's not going to ask though, and pushes past the moment.]

Then I think, monsieur, you are in luck.

[Whatever his meaning, Hawke doesn't appear to explain anytime soon.]

And it's sure not to last. It never does.

Ah well. Calms before the storm, as far as they go, sometimes are good enough?

[Isn't that the truth? Enjolras's expression shifts a little here, into a wry sort of agreement.]

With any luck, we'll all have something of one here. Things have been...intense for the last few weeks. I think we're all welcoming some peace.

So I've heard. Either my timing is incredibly good or incredibly bad.

Not to suggest that things can hardly get worse, but, we might hope for that, I suppose?

Oh sure, and while I'm at it I'll hope for a solid gold statue of my head.

Here? One never knows.

Live in it? Please, I roll around in it. That doesn't mean I ever expect anything to come from it.

Perhaps that is a part of the problem if I may say so.

[Have a bit of a squint there, Hawke.]

If one does not behave as though they expect the things they hope in to come true...how does he make anything happen, in the end?

[Hawke smirks.]

Finding a massive treasure horde in a cavern full of monsters certainly helps.

[No it's not a real answer but Hawke isn't about to give one where anyone can hear, and not to someone he just met. Hawke knows it's not his hope that's the problem. It's his luck, or fate, or whatever you want to call.]

[solo_patria]

It IS a pity we don't seem to find them here, at that.

[No, it's certainly not an answer, but Enjolras is willing to let it pass for now. It's the sort of question that he may bring up again, in future, if they have cause to know each other. Which he somewhat hopes for, actually. ]

There goes my fun then. Guess I'll need a new hobby.

[If Enjolras sticks around long enough and can put up with Hawke's antics then he just might get that.]

I SUPPOSE there's no harm in continuing to look. Odder things have certainly happened here. Who knows? With the way things go around here, that will be a new thing tomorrow or so.

[Hey, Enjolras hung out with Bahorel, Bossuet, Joly AND Courfeyrac at home. In A Group as opposed to one on one. Hawke's antics can probably compare to four of them, right?]
