There's a lot of things I've learned to just accept since I've been here. A magic bottle with the personification of death inside it is something that I can live with. What really confuses is me is how my dog ended up inside it and who put him there.

[At that moment there's a bark and Hawke's notch-eared mabari pushes his way into the feed, examining the strange thing that Hawke appears to be talking to. Hawke's hand falls to Notch's head as he pats the dog's head.]

Don't get me wrong, I love having him back, but answers are always nice.

[So would knowing that his dog isn't actually possessed by whatever corruption was in the bottle.]

At least the trip was fun enough. We should plan another one soon. Maybe this time without a dragon the size of a mountain, or the swamp. I'm thinking a chateau overlooking a lake.

Answers to some of this are hard to come by, I fear. The oddest things have turned up in the oddest of places. I'd not heard of a pet doing so before. Iskierka had an elephant once, I do believe, but other than that...

[A shrug there because Enjolras really has no clue.]

I do like the way you think. The next time the Empire could use help, I could stand to skip the swamp.

[ There's definitely a disapproving frown on this kid's face right now. Admittedly there's usually a disapproving frown on his face, but still... ]

I haven't got a clue what an elephant is but I'm going to assume that it's as weird as any of this.

[Hawke doesn't have a clue any more than Enjolras does.]

Something with good food and even better drink would be good.

[Hawke is used to disapproving stares, though it's kind of adorable coming from a kid.]

It was definitely above average compared to a normal day of work. If I had to rate it I'd give it about a six or seven.

[ A small huff of irritation. ]

Just because it was different than what usually happens here? There was nothing fun about it.

Here? Oh no, I meant home.

[The huff just makes him grin.]

Don't be such a spoilsport. We got to see new sights, bring back some souvenirs, and this makes the first time I actually got to save a dragon instead of just kill it.

[ There's a small twitch in his good eye at the mention of killing dragons. He's certainly doesn't have room to speak considering his country's sordid past with dragon killing, but it's definitely an activity he doesn't approve of. ]

And risk our lives in the process.

[In his defense, those were completely in self-defense.

Hawke arches an eyebrow at Zuko.]

You realize we're here to fight a war right? Risking our lives goes hand-in-hand with that.

I'm not here to fight this war. I have my own war to deal with back in my world, and people that I can't afford to have lose while they're here.

A rather large animal at that.

[It's not worth explaining beyond that, really.]

But rather strange to be found here, yes.

Oh I LIKE the way you think. I feel as if I've not had proper coffee since I've been here. One adjusts, but even so.

Fun ain't the word I'd use for it. But hey, my uh...future dog was found last time we went somewhere. Still got no idea how he got here either. Or why.

[And he's back to smirking.]

So you're just here on vacation then? I hear there are some tour guides around to show you the sights.

[Hawke remains using video for the moment.]

It sounds more and more like I'm in the minority here then.

[Man, you'd think kids these days would have a taste for adventure.]

So I take it the natives will be just as forthcoming with answers to this as they are with everything else.

[Maybe Hawke should have said 'native' instead, seeing how Evandu appears to be the only one actually from here.]

Large and weird, honestly it sounds like it would fit right in here then.

[Hawke smirks.]

What a happy coincidence, I like the way I think too. Frankly I'd like to have anything that's not fish at the moment. The taste has been in my mouth for days.

[Well he does. And usually he would reply with video, but...he's feeling rough. That kinda happens when you get pummelled by two adult, evil Kryptonians.]

Normally I'd agree, and it was cool to a point.

Like getting blood from a stone. I think they'd probably just smile and nod and walk away. Or y'know the usual 'I don't know'.

[And Enjolras is laughing, a little there.]

I grew up by the sea. I know that feeling entirely too well. They claim a sort of nostalgia can appear but I think I would be happy never to see fish again myself.

Must be a loyal dog if it found you even in a place like that one.

[ It's hard not to with this overly serious loser. ]

This isn't a vacation for me either!

There you go. There's some silver lining to everything.

[Though Hawke was too focused on fighting the dragon and its beasties to get involved the with superheroes gone crazy.]

That would be more annoying if I wasn't so completely used to it by now.

My city for some chicken, or pork. Anything that doesn't have any gills.

If there's a single word to describe a mabari, it would be loyal. This dog has been with me longer than most people.

Alright, you're not here to fight. You're not here for a vacation. So what are you doing then? Twiddling your thumbs and watching the snow melt?

I WOULD like to see something meatlike that is not some sort of local variety of animal. It IS incredibly picky of me, I admit, but I WOULD rather meat that I am familiar with for once, instead of guessing.

I'm trying to find a way out of this situation.

[ With little success... ]

Hey, at least you know who it is that you found, right?

That said, I think people find all sort of stuff in the places we make landfall. Maybe whatever... magic brings us here has side effects or something?

[ After a moment's thought. ]

I think the pets found heavily lean into canines, though. No idea why.
