[Hawke gazes at Akito for a moment. While he may be a child, he's here to fight a war and it's not Hawke's place to tell him what he can and can not do. Finally he smirks and pats the boy's head.]

You might be a lot of things, but at least a coward isn't one of them.

[It'll be easier to keep him out of too much danger if he's nearby anyway.]

[ Akito can't help but lean into the pat - at least until he realizes what he's doing and pulls away. the only people who have ever patted his head in the past have been his Papa, Akira, and Ikki. a surge of homesickness hits him, but he pushes it down. ]

[Hawke thinks little of it when Akito pulls away. He lets his hand fall back to his side as he relaxes into one of the chairs in his room.]

[The water hits Hawke in the back of his head. He turns to give Akito an exasperated look but there's no hiding the amusement there.]

Ah? [ his tone is more inquiry and gossip than an actual query. also queue one just-shy-of-shit-eating little grin. ] Did Hawke get lucky?

[Hawke just stares at Aktio. Why all the interest in his sex life suddenly. First River and now him.]

[Hawke gives Akito a look before whistling sharply. Notch perks his head from his resting spot to see Hawke pointing his finger at the boy. Without a word between the, Notch bounds over to Akito and promptly sits on him. The dog's mouth opens in a doggy grin and his tail wags.]

[ Akito lets out a small squeal but promptly begins wrestling with the hound in earnest. He may be human, but he was raised as a weapon and kept in a cage for long enough that his socialization skills are limited to mimicking what he's seen others do. With dogs, he knows they play with bodies and teeth, so that's what he'll do, too. Minus the teeth. ~~Maybe.~~ ]

[Hawke just watches the show in amusement, reaching down to pat Quintus on the head. Seems the turtle hatchling enjoys the show as well.]

Try not to eat him. I think he might give you indigestion.

[Notch barks and continues to wag his tail as he wriggles and squirms to keep Akito pinned beneath him. If Akito wants to throw his weight around in this scuffle then so will Notch, and the war hound weighs a lot.]

[ Akito has very little weight to throw around, but at least he knows how to use it! ]

Are you going to come to the beach party on Saturday?

[ he flops back down onto the floor, conceding the battle to Notch this time. ]

[Hawke nods his head and continues to pet Quintus. Now that Akito has given up, Notch flops on the boy deciding to use him as a pillow.]

That all depends on how busy my life gets.

[ that's fine with Akito, as long as Notch lets him cuddle him in return. ]

I don't think you'll be too busy with the weather the way it is. It's like the whole city has stopped, it's so hot out!

[Notch seems perfectly happy to let this happen. Hawke groans.]

[Fereldan never got this hot and neither did Kirkwall. He can barely go anywhere without his clothing sticking to him.]
