Ah, hello. My name is Alistair Krei, though... I don't suppose that means much to most of you out there, does it?

[He frowns for a moment, then shakes his head]

Anyway, I'm looking for some information on the technology here. I had a tablet with me when I arrived, but I don't know enough about the consoles or the rest of the tech here to know if it's possible to interface with them successfully. That said, I'm sure someone's already looked into this--without me having to risk frying my own computer to test it. Anything about the consoles or the general level of technology, or the work being done on them, would be appreciated. For reference, I run a technology company back in San Fransokyo and my own degree is in computer engineering.

It's a kind of coffee. Espresso and steamed milk. I'm guessing they don't have them where you're from, but they're pretty popular in my world. [It still feels so strange to say that. My world.]

If I'm stuck drinking black coffee I'm going to be one very unhappy camper.

Bring your tablet to me and I'll hook you up with a charger and a latte. You're not going to have much luck with data transfer, though. The consoles are biomechanical, and they don't play nice with foreigner tech.

You're definitely in the running for new best friend. I'm not even overly concerned with data transfer right now, I'm just glad to know that charging is possible. And that lattes are possible.

The lattes are new. We used to have to make do with fake alien coffee, but the foreigners recently stumbled on an infinitely regenerating coffee bean canister. [A small miracle, which Tony is totally abusing.]

[She's... green. Green. Okay, so maybe not quite the strangest thing he's seen since he's been here, but close. It takes him a second to reply.]

I... was afraid of that, but I suppose it's not really a surprise. I knew someone had to have tried already.

Is it true the consoles melt?

Not precisely.

Melting would imply a significant application of heat, which is not always the case. To the best of my knowledge, all known liquefaction processes have been initiated through external means of attempting to take apart the machines. It is said than any such interference will prove identical results.

[But that was moreso a matter of semantics. The short version? Yes.]

It is for this reason that even I have made no attempts to interface. The results, probability-wise, would...not be in my favor.

[For the time being, it's still a novelty to Yosuke, stopping by one of these computer-type things when he spies them and spotting a face he recognises on the screen - even though he's already had to start reusing his excuses for leaving the area without learning much more than the face, because let's be real, the dude might be old enough to be his dad. It's easier not to feel cowed when you're pretty sure you're a safe distance away, too. He can't stop himself.]

Hmm, well, I'm usually better about making food than I am about drinks, but I imagine I could probably have you covered on the latte part. Provided I've got all the right equipment, of course. The Hotel kitchen just might have it, though I'd have to double-check.

Can't exactly help you on the technology part though. There's usually no need when you've got magic.

[There's no shame in admitting that, right? Some people run international technology companies, and some people make fancy coffee for people who run international technology companies. And some people run and fetch fancy coffees for--

Not that I'm drowning in work here, but I don't think I can seriously be expected to work off of black coffee. Maybe if I were still in college pulling an all-nighter, but...

Ah yes, magic. I have to confess, I'm still getting used to the idea of magic. Even if I've already seen it a couple of times now.

[He pauses for a second to think on it.] I wonder what they've got in the kitchen to thicken the milk up; the appliances in the kitchens are so unlike the ones I'm used to. Still, I could probably improvise and find something. Shouldn't be a problem.

Well, I mean, there is magitechnology too, which is pretty neat. I've never really gotten to play much with it though; usually my sister insisted on being the one to push all of the buttons.

Yes, more or less. Design, build, program. Not these specifically, of course, given that they're supposedly bio-mechanical--and I don't generally do the programming myself anymore. But long story short: yes.

But I'm curious. I know a couple people who have made... machines that were... I guess, programmable. What do you make yours do?
