Radio | March 14th

I have something to tell you all, and some of you might not believe me.

[Valdis' voice is hesitant, halting and uncertain]

There are very few of us left, it seems, who remember Malicant's reign or the atrocities committed by his followers. The death, the taint, the drugs and the suffering inflicted upon foreigner and Kedan alike is unknown to all of our newcomers. But this isn't just about that.

[A long pause, followed by an audible breath]

I have recently discovered that Milyn, the Cherrywood Healer, was involved with the Cultists. She reported directly to Daseng and created the drug known as Dust, as well as the base for Lucid.

[Another pause and then a low growl.]

She was our only ally among the Kedan when we first returned from the Dreaming, she aided us in defeating Malicant...but she also helped him wreak his havoc in the first place.

[Another growl]

I don't know about all of you, but I can't trust her anymore.

Uh.

[Pepper has only recently interacted with Milyn, having only encountered her very sparsely at larger events, but she's heard a lot about her. The Cherrywood Healer was well-known around Keeliai, and most Foreigners spoke rather higher of her than any other significant player in the city. Significant despite not being a family head, and deep enough into things to know where Yunxu kept some of his salt. Hm.]

I mean, I didn't know enough about her to trust her in the first place, but that's, like, totally messed up. Not like she's the first person in history, but that doesn't make it any less uncool. Very Werner von Braun of her.

You're doing that coy thing, aren't you? Because that was a very short answer given that whole mini-diatribe. Too much growling giving you a sore throat?

[She's teasing. This is serious, but a little humor never hurt.]

Is she doing anything, like, actively right now that's all culty?
lasergrenades: (Who me?)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Answering without answering. She likes your tactics, Valdis.]

Yeah, that's a solid tick in the 'possibly a sociopath' column. Jeez. I guess you've interrogated her already?

[It'll probably be only the first of many, judging by the responses over the radio.]
lasergrenades: (Elementary my dear Watson)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
She's good at talking. I can interrogate her for you, if you'd like.

[Pepper is possibly too excited by this prospect.]

Do the rest of the kedan know what she's done? They should if they don't.
lasergrenades: (I don't like it)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Betrayal sucks, [Pepper agrees darkly, suddenly thinking of Gene. He'd been one of their biggest allies at home, after all. And now he was again, fortunately.] What are you planning on doing about this?
lasergrenades: (Investigating)

...Well, that's totally not ominous. [Pepper pauses for a moment, thinking, and then switches to private mode.] So, you're having everyone else do something?
lasergrenades: (Hmmmmmm)

Uh huh. But what happens two moves down the line is, isn't it? Act, react, act again. You must be a fan of chess.

[Cue the raptor noises.]

If you're playing white, who's playing black? Wait, does that mean we're all the pieces? Can I be a bishop?
lasergrenades: (wtf)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so it's chess and all the pieces have brains and don't even know they're standing on the board. Please don't ever buy a white cat and lair.

[Because you're starting to sound a little like a puppetmaster, minus the evil laugh and Pepper is fairly certain Valdis would never buy a cat anyway.]

Then what's the endgame if it's not knocking down the black king? [Beat.] Oh. Oh.

This has to do with no one's favorite Snake, doesn't it? Where does he tie in?

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but why is it his move? What's he got to do with Milyn making drugs for the cultists? [That's a connection she's yet missing.] Unless he doesn't, directly.

[Yunxu and Milyn don't exactly get along, so if Valdis is casting shadows on Milyn as a way to hit at Yunxu, there has got to be something else going on.]
lasergrenades: (Make me armor dammit)

I'm not 'little', [Pepper mutters.] Can we at least make popcorn while we wait?

[Then maybe you can explain what Yunxu has to do with this. Perhaps Valdis will be a little more willing to chat if they're both inside the same four walls.]
lasergrenades: (I am so bored)

[personal profile] lasergrenades 2016-03-20 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
That is completely unhelpful. [Patience is hard, okay? But Valdis does seem to have a plan of some sort, and if this is part of her plan, then fine. Pepper will wait.] Call me if things start exploding. Please.

Point. Might not hurt though. [Beat.] I know you don't really need to hear this, but be careful.

[The woman was immortal, after all. Or at least she hopefully still was. Either way, Valdis is hard to hurt and harder kill, but the sentiment stands.]
