[ Brigid tucks hair behind her ear, looking at the computer in front of her. ]

While I appreciate the welcome, and the information, I have to say that I am unimpressed with the method by which I was brought.

[ Meaning, she’s a little salty right now. ]

I don’t suppose there is a school I could teach at is there? I can translate four languages, speak two, and have a doctorate in Irish history.

[ She’s hoping there’s some call for her skills somewhere in this place. ]

If not, I also have some skill with Krav Maga and could, potentially, teach that, if there’s some call for it. Basically, I wish to teach. If someone could direct me to a few opportunities, I’d be grateful.

[ She leans forward and cuts off the feed. ]

More or less.

I mean, some of us came here with a bit more background than others, but...it's definitely not an uncommon thing. Or much of a secret.

[ Which might make keeping herself quiet a problem, but that's a problem for another time. Right now, she's curious. ]

so it's pretty prevalent? Are you a practitioner?

I am actually. A pretty well-known one around here.

[One might even say her magic was once felt turtle-wide. ~~Even if it was an accident.~~]

[ So someone to watch herself around, if half the Chronicle is to be believed. ]

Is it an especially difficult path to follow?

What, magic?

[She blinked in between a moment of silence, mouth slightly agape. As if that were one question she had never expected anyone to ask her.]

Uh...not...really? I don't know. I'm not entirely sure I'm the best person to ask something like that. I've literally been studying since before I was old enough to remember--and yeah, that means way before I came here--so it's always just...been a part of my life. I couldn't imagine growing up without it.

So, in a way, it's like asking if you remember learning how to walk?

[ She's a curious thing, at least. And nonjudgmental. ]

Kind of. Or talk, I guess, would be the better comparison.

[Since her magic was verbal.]

It's also a family style I can't really...okay, no, there were a couple people I could teach one or two family spells too that somehow seemed to work for them, but for the most part, it's not exactly something I'm willing to take apprentices on or anything like that.

But there are others. There's even a whole Magic Guild.

[ She hums to herself for a moment. It would be nice to know some of these things, since they could come up against her at some point, but she's not sure if she should stick her nose into it. ]

I'll have to look into it. My curiosity is piqued.

That's never a bad thing. As long as you're not secretly a cat.

Raine's pretty good with visitors. Last time I stopped by, she was even willing to give me a tour of the place.

A cat?

[ Brigid giggles. No, she's definitely not a cat! ]

[ Brigid can't help but smile. ]

I'm more of a dog person anyway.

That's cool. I know someone from back home who you might've gotten along with, in that case. He kept a pet wolf. Named him Wolf. Fluffy guy. Made a great pillow.

[...Wolf. Not Superboy. Little too much muscle on that one. Also a little too attached to his girlfriend.]

Me, I try not to discriminate based on species.

He named his pet wolf, Wolf?

[ That's horrible. Then again, she's an Irish Catholic named after an ancient pagan Irish goddess....]

[To be fair, he was like a year old at the time. Cloning.]

I thought it was cute. A little blunt, but cute.

I.... wouldn't know. My family never had animals. We weren't allowed.

[ Being wolves, they never had animals. the animals wouldn't tolerate it. ]

Never at least visited the zoo?

[One of her favorite places. Granted, her life sometimes felt like a zoo, but there were a few animals never used in any of the shows at the parks.]

Never.

[ Sometimes, being a werewolf sucked. ]

Huh. That's a shame.

It was the only place outside of one of dad's theaters where I got to see those kinds of animals. Most kids don't get to keep them as pets.

[GEE, IS IT ANY WONDER WHY?]

Well, no I wouldn't expect them to be kept as pets.

Shame. Those other kids really don't know what they're missing.

[It was not impossible to tell just how serious she was.]

I take it you had... unusual pets growing up?

[Aside from Wolf? ~~And Sphere?~~]

Well, they weren't mine, exactly, but...

I remember there was this beautiful white tiger I made friend with when I was about...I don't know, seven or eight? Oh, and there was the snake when I was in kindergarten. I forget which kind it was. There were a few different cages at that theater.

[ Brigid shakes her head, bemused. ]

I always wanted a pet, but Uncle said we weren't allowed.

[ Yes, Uncle. Not her parents. ]

[That was...a little unusual, but not so much so. Certainly not enough that warranted asking. Yet. Though she would wonder in the back of her mind.]
