In the nonhuman slums I was born in a human child, fat and spoiled, could come waddling into our market, steal a loaf of bread from a stand, and they would receive naught but a slap on the wrist. But if a starving, skin and bones, elven child plucked an apple from a human market stand, they were hung in the city square. When there was a bad harvest season, the human market's supply would remain constant while the nonhuman market dwindled and famine spread in the slums.

Before I left the city, I had the reserve stores for the human markets stolen, before I burnt their market to the ground.

We've been brought here as some sort of savior by their Emperor and done nothing but damage to their lands and lifestyle since arriving. I'm surprised we haven't at least been pushed out of the city into the wastes and made to survive on our own.
