[But he can't resist. Tony steps back to get as good of a full body shot as he can before letting the metal replace the apparent clothes and cover his body with hard armor.]

[Korra's mouth goes slack as she watches the transformation.] Your clothes have machines too? [How much of Tony was in between those tiny things?]

Why do you have a flashlight in your chest? [That really stuck out against the red and gold armor. And damn, that was some kick ass looking armor as far as Korra was concerned. Okay, time to scoop her mouth up from the floor.]

Nothing special, uh-huh. And you said it increased your strength and other abilities? How do you see through those blue lights? [She had a billion and one questions more now.]

They aren't clothes. They're all the same machines... I'm just changing the way they act.

[Probably less than she thinks, but he's glad that she didn't include that in her stream of questions.]

Power source, yes, and I use sensors. They pick up things like energy that normal people can't see anyway. It works out better this way.

[Because this totally doesn't sound like magic. Yup.]

[’Changing the way they act’ netted Tony a face that all too easily said ‘Not even going to ask.’ Her brain could soak up so much knowledge in such a short time before it starts to just overflow.]

You, or these sensors, can see energy? [Hoooold it. She asking this so tentatively because she knows this will probably sound like more magic talk to him, but:] Like you can see…spiritual energy?

[He's trying not to be too technical, if only because he doesn't actually want someone to try replicating the process. He doesn't have the genetic code, but you never know. But apparently his efforts are just making things worse.]

That's right. Some kinds... It depends on the type. [He frowns a little at the question, but shrugs.]

I could try. If you have a source for me to track, I can probably find a way to pick it up.

[Korra couldn’t replicate a tonka truck.]

Hmm. Well I know of one spirit you could test that on. Sort of anyway. I mean he’s a spirit, but I can see him just fine, so I have no idea how that would work with your armor’s sensors. His name’s Jack Frost and he’s really ~~cool~~ nice.

[But there’s a much more pressing question.]

You don’t have that see through vision, do you? [Because all the nope if he does.]

[Well, you never know.]

I've spoken to him. He uses magic, right?

[He doesn't like magic. Not at all. But he nods.] I could try. I've been able to read magic energy before so there's always a chance that my sensors will be able to pick it up.

See through vision? What kind of see through vision?

[He can do heat signatures. Does that count?]

Magic? I have no idea if that’s what he uses. I didn't get to talk to him too much about powers. He was really just helping me a lot with my notes on English. He helped me fill up a whole page really. [She held up her notepad opened to the paper that was title "Jack Frost" with a ton of corrections and smiley face. She didn’t want to talk about her discussion with Jack over the Moon and Spirits.]

Yeah, see through. [She snaps her fingers as she hunts for the right wording.] X-Ray! X-ray vision. You don’t have that right? [Her notepad moved up to cover her chest when she asked.]

Huh. That's helpful of him. I could probably find a way to pick up his kind of energy.

[He doesn't bother getting too involved with that explanation either. At this point, trying to talk too much about abilities probably puts everyone off. But to the question about his vision, Tony smirks. He briefly considers being mean, but decides it's probably better not to start out with too much teasing.]

No, I don't have that. I can see well, but that's pushing things. Besides, the novelty of that has kind of worn off in most cases.

Good. [That may have been said a little too quickly with relief. Setting her notepad on the desk again, Korra smiles.] Well I'm glad you decided to show me.

Since you're going to be here for a while, I'd normally tell you to stay away from a man named Amon but I don't think you have a lot to worry about from him. Just don't believe half of the good things people tell you about him and none of what he tells you.

At least, that's my advice.

[Her tone goes somber over that topic.]

But if you ever need anything, you can always find me in the Metal Sector at ME-2B. You'll get used to them eventually, I promise. [Took her a couple of weeks to get the city down.]

Not at all. It was fun. I'd like to see your bending sometime.

[He's already altering the look of the armor back into the normal suit and tie from before. A little light and blur and the nanites make average enough clothes.]

I take it you and Amon are from the same place. Does he bend too?

[Always good to get information. And if he does end up running into him, Tony wants to at least be prepared. The way Korra grows serious means there's a history behind that advice, but he can find out more later.

When she mentions her suite number, he almost says something. But he doesn't, because she'll find out eventually, and if he's honest with himself (it happens occasionally), he wants to see her face when she does.]

Well, I'll have to look you up. Maybe once I get a feel for the city.

[Transformations are still a new concept to Korra and seeing it in action is still a sight to see.]

Yeah, he's a waterbender and a very skilled bloodbender. It's a sub-school of waterbending and was made illegal after the Hundred Year War. Just keep your wits about you if you cross his path. You'll know him when you see his mask.

[Why Korra didn't think Tony would have a lot to worry about over Amon is because she had a hunch that since Tony seemed to have tiny machines in him his blood stream must have been synthetic. Maybe even wire? She tried not to dwell on it too much.]

People can bend lava, metal, and blood? What kind of world do you come from again?

[Just hearing about bending is fascinating to him. Especially when Korra doesn't say that it's magic. He misses the part where she doesn't seem overly concerned about the bloodbending, but he's used to a lot of heroes talking about threats like they're no big deal. She'd probably get put off pretty quickly if she new what was inside him.]

I'll have to. I want to see this bending in action.

Yes, metalbending's a sub-school and usually not taught unless a bender has mastered their element first and even then they have to have a head for it. Like waterbending can have healing properties, but not all waterbenders have it in them to do it. [Korra can't help but feel how complicated the answers to that question is.] Sandbending is a variation of earthbending, but it works a little differently. I can't use it a little, but not that much. Lava is something only the Avatar can do I think since it uses both earthbending and firebending. I've never even tried it.

[There was still so much she had to learn. These answers really brought that to light.]

Yeah sure, any time! It's just odd to me, I'm so used to bending being accepted and commonplace worldwide. [Except in the instances of radical revolutionists who didn't get hugged by their father.]

[Korra might notice that Tony has a strange look on his face as she gives that bending tutorial. His eyes are wide, taking in the explanation like a fish trying to take in air.]

So, theoretically, you could manipulate anything. With practice. Because you're the Avatar.

[He might be gawking, but he does follow that up with a real smile.]

I want to see it. You could do amazing things with that kind of ability.

[Just by the look on Tony’s face, she was sure those answers weren’t translating well.]

Well no, not anything. I mean I still have to take the trash out you know. Garbagebending doesn’t sound like a fun time anyway. [But he did have a point.] Maybe, yeah. But that requires the right teacher, because I’m pretty sure I couldn’t teach myself those things.

[His smile let her know that he wasn’t just being polite and actually found this too weird to deal with.]

Whenever you have time you can stop by my suite then. I’ve got my upstairs set up to handle most of my bending training.

[He's on board. He still doesn't see how this isn't magic, but then again, that's even more interesting.]

Maybe you could. Maybe you just need to try new ways of looking at your bending. Not garbagebending. No one needs garbagebending. But other things.

[He's energetic and tentative at the same time. It's still a little weird, but in a way that only makes him more curious.]

I'm holding you to that.

New ways? That sounds easy, but I think you’re jumping ahead. Mastering just one element isn’t easy, and the Avatar needs to have all four of them down pat. And right now, my air is kind of…yeah, let’s just say it’s not ready. [Back home Korra never had the chance to hear a point of view on bending from someone who knew nothing of it. It was turning out to be pretty interesting, especially from a genius like Tony.]

[Welcome to dealing with Tony Stark, Korra. He doesn't really understand the term limits. There are only possibilities and undiscovered possibilities.]

Well, you just need practice, right? We should practice. It's air control, and that's something I at least understand.

You don't always need chi to make things happen.

[It's interesting and challenging, so of course he has to ask questions and get involved.]

It's more than just the air control from the air conditioner you know. [She's teasing about the only machine she's encountered that has any type of air control.]

Alright, I'll bite. What's your idea on how to practice bending? [English lessons be damned, any bending talk always took priority with Korra.]

[He might look a little challenging when she throws out the air conditioner comment. He's Iron Man, after all. She's just asking for him to push limits.]

How do you feel about flying?

[The notepad Korra had been holding the whole time drops to the floor and her unblinking eyes widen.]

I want to! I have a custom glider staff, but I can't fly with it until-

[A beat.]

How? [Trying to figure out what kind of instruction Tony could give her kept coming to a dead end in her mind.]

Maybe you just need to get into the air and feel it out.

[He'll help. Maybe not in the traditional way.]

What about looking at it from a different angle? [Or having fun. That too.]

I've only got myself into the air once and it was when that satellite was coming down, didn't have time to feel anything. Especially when there's a young man in spider-themed spandex who's also on fire.

I'm not jumping off of any buildings either. [Jokingly, of course.]

Are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting?

That depends. Do you think I'm suggesting we go flying? Because you're on the right track if that's the case.

[He does note the adventure she had with Spider-Man. That had to have been a rough time for them.]
