Not own, no, and I do not like the idea of a Empress or Emperor or Kings at any rate. Better that the people, all of them, determine their leaders by some means, if they cannot be directly consulted themselves, as the Americans would have it in my time.

[And Enjolras is extremely passionate on this point, though his voice does not really rise or anything along those lines. His eyes seem more alert perhaps, and he sits a little straighter as he stares into the camera.]

Instead of "own" perhaps I ought to say...controls or rules. It seems the more accurate term. I wonder though, truly, how one person may own a piece of any land when it is living, but particularly when it has consciousness as our Tu Vishan does.

[Enjolras would not consider himself so good a friend as that. He is well aware that though he loves his friends, he has his shortcomings, is often too impatient, or dismissive with them, and, upon his death in the last world, he realized that there is much he does not understand or seek to know of their conditions and feelings. Still, he wishes to try to be better for them here, so the words, referring to Marius of all people, whom Enjolras knows least of all, come as an encouragement to him.]

I try now, yes. I have not always been so, but I try.

America is one of the countries in my world, yes. It was one of the first to declare independence, and to take hold of it. I look to them as an example, as we did during our first revolution so many years ago. I look to their success as proof that France may be free as well.

And to our future I have learned of here, I suppose.

[Enjolras hopes that a republic came in the same France that he is from at least.]

I am told that some time later in our history, sixteen years after our fight was ended that it came but...forgive me. It is still hard to think of such as a part of the world I live in.

[And Enjolras is nodding, affirming what she says, and appreciating this.]

I wonder what may happen when the trying is not enough but otherwise..I think you are right. Do you take that advice often?

It was. And it caused us, later, to attempt our own, on two occasions. The first time, in 1830, we should have had it, the support was there, the people wished it, but we were given a new king instead of the one who fled at the idea.

[If Enjolras seems angry when he speaks of 1830, well, that certainly was a blow and wrong and all of that. It is to be expected, really.]

The second time, two years later, my friends, some other groups and leaders, mostly students and workers, rose to barricade the streets again, but...the people did not support change, though they'd been crying out for it. Fear, I think, is what held them back. France had certainly not given them reasons to hope as far as their lots went.

[So as far as fear goes, well...]

I suppose that when it comes to fear, one must consider the consequences, weigh them, as Combeferre would have me do more often and decide...is the potential best of outcomes worth what may be lost? If it is, then we find the courage to try it. Somewhere. I am certain you can too.

I do hope that is the case, that we planted a seed of revolution and it only needed time to grow. There is a certain pride in knowing that it happened, I'll admit.

That is very true. It may be better to at least attempt exploring more. I take it these are very special skills that you must try to use then?

So it does. [Enjolras is nodding at that.] That sounds like something Combeferre would say. And it would be correct.

Ah, so practicing these skills is important then? Perhaps you may demonstrate for me if we are somewhere safe that you would do so. I would be interested to see.

Ah he certainly is.

[And Enjolras's smile is growing fonder by the moment.]

I do think he knows everything there is to be known. Or reasonably at least. And I should like that very much, seeing what you can do.

Everything about the natural world where we were from at least, and many more things as he finds them. He knows the most then, of anyone I know, that may fit better.

[And Enjolras is ducking his head a little at the smirk, but smiling.] I do admire his desire to know all of that.

And indeed, I can see where that would be. Perhaps we may meet somewhere.

This sounds like an excellent plan. [Bending? as in... The mental images Enjolras is getting are particularly amusing at the moment, that's for certain. He will find out soon enough, he supposes.]
