13N10 [VIDEO]
[Costigan appears on screen, frowning but seemingly less anxious and restless than usual.]
I forgot almost everyone here I know for over two weeks. [A beat.] I remember now.
[He doesn't mention that it hurt both physically and emotionally when that happened, or how he might have intentionally overdosed himself if not for Abigail's presence.]
Anyone ever find anything out about that?
[97% encrypted to Arthur]
Thanks for helping.
[97% encrypted to Abigail]
Dinner tonight?

How you holdin' up?

Can we talk?

I'm sorry I forgot you, guy. After I said I'd be there. I didn't mean to- You know I wouldn't have, if I had any control over it or any choice. I forgot everyone I trusted.
Re: audio; encrypted 60%
You don't have to apologize for that, Billy. What happened, it hit a lot of people and no one's at fault for it. I do know you wouldn't have chosen it... when you said you'd be there for me, I think it was understood that couldn't include Acts of Turtle.
[ The forgiveness, reassurance comes easy and freely; he genuinely held no ill for Costigan's uncontrolled lapse. ]
... you want some coffee?
[ "You want to talk about it?" ]

[Guess whose magic hate has risen again? If he wasn't so close with Jack, the undercover might not even be hearing him right now.
A pause. Then his tone is level again.]
Coffee, sure.
["Coffee, not talking."]
Re: audio; encrypted 60%
[ He's still a little on pins and needles on this sticking point because of everything with Zatanna and Damian and it sounds in his voice briefly. ]
I'm not disagreeing with the other part though.
All right.
[ He'll bring the kind you seem to like the most, and maybe even have a little himself if he cools it down. They can see about the talking after that. ]

[Doesn't make it any better though.]
See you soon, guy.

Hey Billy.
action;
Hey. [He frowns at not being able to see Jack, his recent experience with magic making him hate it all the more.]
Re: action;
[ He never reins in the ice trails he leaves, not around Costigan. It's a poor stand-in for actual sight but it's all he can offer at the moment. He doesn't know why the undercover was able to see him in the other Plane and when he'd been affected by Zatanna's misspell. The first he supposed was somewhat understandable given what he gleaned of it: a place shaped by their minds. But the latter especially stung, moreso because of Jack's own excitement at thinking Costigan had finally believed. He kept all traces of that disappointment tightly locked away however, setting down the metal thermos and not one but two mugs this time, the trio of items wavering into sight a moment later. ]
You look like you could use the break.
action;
Right now, however, his focus is on trying to reconnect with ally he abandoned and forgot.] I'm fine. How have you been?
Re: action;
I've been... all right. There's some stuff going on right now that's complicated. Not with me so much, but other people.
action;
[Costigan moves to grab the thermos, unscrewing the lid and pouring each of them a cup. He continues speaking as he does this and as he returns the thermos to its position on the ledge.]
You know if you need help, I'm around. I told you I remember everything- everyone again, good and bad. You can run things by me without me interfering, or you can call in a favor if you need someone.. taken care of.
[Yeah, he's basically offering to beat the shit out of someone for Jack, if needed. While part of him is still a cop, the other part is still a criminal.]
Re: action;
[ Jack takes the one cup, curling his fingers around it. Almost immediately his touch begins leeching the heat out of it, cooling it to a more comfortable temperature for him. ]
Thanks Billy. It's something I'm keeping an eye on for right now... kind of don't want to get any more involved unless I have to.
[ Then another thought strikes him and he pauses to consider bringing it up, lifting the cup and taking a small sip. The bitterness of it makes him wince but he swallows it down anyway, glad the undercover can't see the expression. How do you drink this stuff all the time... ]
I wouldn't mind a little advice though. Have you ever known a person and you were sure that you... thought of them a certain way, and then it turns out you actually think of them differently?
action;
The thought makes him smile, but the disappearance of the second cup wipes that expression away back to neutrality.
To the latter, his muscles naturally tense. Madolyn. His face contorts with a mixture of idle suspicion and confusion.]
Sure, yeah. Who's the lucky girl?
Re: action;
It... that part doesn't matter, it's not mutual and that's-- fine. I just... does it ever change back?
action;
Most of the time. Yeah. After awhile, you find someone else or you lose interest. Doesn't help much if you stay friends though. [Says the man who fails at close relationships in general.] How do you know it's not mutual?
Re: action;
She likes someone else. Someone from her home, who's also here.
action;
[A beat.] Honestly? You should ask someone else, guy.
Re: action;
[ Well, the first option was out the window. The second he was still puzzling over how to accomplish. But it was, strangely, a relief to know that he wasn't missing anything glaringly obvious. ]
No, that's all right. I asked because I knew you wouldn't just say what you thought would go over well.
So, what's with all the paperwork?
action;
Lincoln Lee disappeared. Olivia asked me to look over his files, see if I'm familiar with anything.
Re: action;
Does it have anything to do with when he asked if someone could phase through a wall? It figures now that I can actually do that, he's gone home.
action;
[Costigan gives a shrug, returning his gaze to the coffee in his hand and taking another long sip.]
Re: action;
[ He thought for a moment, then shook his head. He hadn't pressed any further on that particular point either, having not been able to do what Lincoln had asked. ]
How is Olivia doing? They were partners, right?
