[A broad smile is on Korra’s face when she turns on the video feed. She’s leaning to one side of the chair and looking pleased as punch.]

I’ll be reopening the dojo in the Wood Sector and I need some teachers, mentors, instructors- whatever you want to call yourselves, to teach people that want to learn. Any fighting style will do, but if it’s martial arts; then all the better.

If you’re interested in lessons, get in touch with me here or privately. I don't know how much lessons are going to be yet, but I'll try to keep it low.

[There's a pause where Korra considers her next words and her smile fades a little.]

If you're half as good as Dinah Lance is [Not was.] then I need to talk you.

[Four months of training with Dinah isn't enough for Korra. She wants to dig in further into the various styles she was mastering, and this is the only way she knows of to find someone that can help her do just that.]

[That piques Korra’s interest. Most of her potential applicants didn’t think twice about possibly damaging the equipment.]

Sure. [Giving a nod, Korra grabs the punching bag on the sides and bends her knees just a little. Tilting her head to the side, she’s able to see him over the side of the bag. ~~She’s short, okay.~~]

Ready when you are.

[He cares if only out of respect for Dinah and well learned reminders of how much time it can take to repair such things when you do not have a steady stock to use instead.]

Thank you. [It's said softly, but with ease. After she is in position, he adjusts his stance and brings up his fists before throwing about half of the force he can into the bag. He doesn't use all of it, since it's not a reinforced bag, but it would be more than enough to send it flying if Korro wasn't holding it. He's testing it as much as he's testing her.]

[Holding it yes, but her eyebrows shoot up at the force of it. Planting her feet a little more firmly, Korra's hands press into the bag and the muscle tone in her arms defines itself.

If his warm up is like that, then there's more coming and she needs to be ready put her back into holding the heavy punching bag in place. Those chains were strong, but-]

So do you work out or-? [The unspoken superhero lingers after her unfinished question.]

[He notices the stance she is taking to brace herself and pulls back a little bit more. Not too much, but he can adjust it now to make sure she isn't exerting herself just from holding the bag. He punches it again, shifting lightly on his feet and performing a quick kick and then elbow to the bag.]

Atlantis exists at the bottom of the ocean and the pressure there is very heavy and dense. This leads to our strength being on average above that of civilian surface dwellers.

[She holds it steady enough as she watches on. The way he holds himself is a little familiar.]

Huh. I never even thought about that. Anytime I'm underwater I just bend the water away from me.

[She had no idea until now that she missed out on some resistance training.]

[Kaldur chuckles softly then, throwing a combination of firsts and then a high kick.]

I know others who do much the same. Although, even I have learned talents we rely on can be taken when we least expect it. [He remembers how it felt to lose his gills and the skin icons that channeled his sorcery. To know he was so defenseless in water then had been hard to accept. His next punch has a little more force behind it.] We should not let them become a crutch.

[Flatly:] Ha. Tell me about it.

[The power loss that spread across the turtle left Korra with more of a drive to focus on martial arts. It was almost half a year ago, but not having access to her bending isn't something she'd forget.]

I'm hoping this whole dojo things works out. A 'just in case' kind of deal.

Agreed. [And then he starts to pick up speed.] It is better for all of us if we do not settle into one way of defending ourselves. Even in Atlantis we are training in combat by the military and other forms, such as sorcery.

[He's not even broken a sweat with the constant punching and occasional kick, but it is also not a demonstration of his true skills in Kaldur's opinion. And so he puts in more force and focuses more on the movement on the bag.]

When you say "we", do you mean everybody in Atlantis; oooor just those who want to?

[She asks between punches and kicks so her words aren't coming jarred.]

It is mandatory for youths to serve two years in our kingdom's military.

[His punches slow down a little more, to keep the conversation easier.] It provides us with the years to learn self-defense, combat techniques, drills needed should our kingdom be attacked, and chances to move on to other areas were are more inclined towards. After my service I enrolled in the Conservatory of Sorcery. Not all Atlanteans do.

[That wasn’t so bad to Korra. A lot of the Water Tribe were taught the basics. The pace does make it easier to talk for her and she manages to get her chin on top of the bag.]

So your magic’s not like Zatanna’s since it’s focused on water, huh?
