[He needs to stop thinking that he's incapable of being surprised. By the end of the Battle of New York, Steve thought he had seen it all. Insane technology, other worlds, aliens... What else could there possibly be?

The answer, of course, is a giant turtle in a realm outside the continuity of time. He had a long chat about nearly everything with the locals that helped him earlier, but it's still crazy, and he probably wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen some of the turtle shell himself.

Yet here he is. It'll probably all sink in over time; Steve's been overloaded with so much information over the past few hours and it's exhausting, even for him.

Getting on the computer hadn't been his top priority, but he's already gone outside of his new home and back. Steve's experienced enough culture shock for today. He might as well at least reach out and introduce himself to all of the other people who wound up here like him.

Once he's got the computer up and running, he accesses the network using the video function. He looks a little stiff and probably as exhausted as he feels, but that's the least of his concerns right now.]

Hello. My name's Steve Rogers. The kedin- kedan? - brought me up to speed already, but I only just arrived here a few hours ago.

[Maybe longer than that. He hasn't exactly been keeping track of time. In any case, it's really jarring to be talking to a computer screen and not actually know who's on the other end.]

I have a couple questions that I'd like to have verified. [It doesn't necessarily mean he'll believe whatever he's told, but second opinions are typically useful.] We're all more or less stuck on this turtle, right? But there's a way back.

[That's a question as well, but it ends up sounding more like a statement. It sounds like a reasonable assumption. There obviously isn't a rush since no time is passing back home; he just wants to know.]

The other question I have is about jobs. Since it looks like I'll be here awhile, I'll start looking soon. Does anyone know which places are hiring offhand?

[He pauses for a moment before adding a 'thank you.']

[ Well, this is... Something. In a way, it's actually kind of funny. It's like everything's coming back to haunt him these days and right on time, almost like clockwork, here's Steve Rogers. Captain America.

America's favorite son.

It was a little better there at the end than it had been initially. Tony hasn't forgotten that. But it's been a long time since then. It feels like a lifetime. For now, he decides to play it safe. ]

Rogers. You're late.

[It's not every day that Steve can say he's honestly glad to see Tony; he hasn't known him very long at all, and they've certainly had their share of bickering.

But still, it's nice to see a familiar face, and makes him wonder if there are other people he knows here.]

I must've missed the memo. I didn't keep you waiting long, did I?

[There's a blond woman with pointed ears wearing a swimsuit and looking taken aback.]

Hi, I guess. ...Or welcome back, maybe. Do you recognize me?

[She's just not going to be easing him into this slowly. He's Cap, he can take it.]

[It's surprising that there are people he knows here, but it's even more surprising for complete strangers to recognise him.]

Hi? I'm afraid I don't. Have we met before?

[He has a feeling that he would remember if they had, but it doesn't hurt to ask.]

[Captain America is the man in the suit, a symbol. Steve's just himself, like he always has been. But the question throws him off, although it's not like his identity is a secret.]

Have an eight year old who looks far too serious.]

People seem to disappear at random, and the reigning theory is that they go back to their home universe when they go. In terms of jobs, there are a number of "foreigner"-run businesses, the largest being Stark Industries and Wayne Pharmaceutical. As I see you know Tony Stark already, may I suggest you ask him for a job?

[He not only looks to serious, but he sounds it as well. It's not worth pointing out. Besides, he appreciates the response and that's more important.]

I'll consider it. Do you happen to know of anything else out there?

[He is so not asking Tony for a job.]

[ Oh. Oh. Hell. Bucky doesn't check his console until late, and this is what is waiting for him. And, for a moment, he doesn't know what to do. Twice. Twice, Steve has been here, and then gone. The second time after so, so little time. And who knows what's happened to his body... bodies, after. ]

[ Bucky runs his head back through his hair, pacing across the room, the message brought up and on replay. He wants to. To go there, right now. But chances are that Steve'd freak out; chances are always that. So Bucky shakes his head, and sits down. Maybe breaking it to him slowly... will be something that works out, for once? ]

There's an art supply store which might interest you, job-wise.

[This catches his attention. Obviously whoever this is, they have to know him, right? Steve only mentioned art in his conversation with Darcy, and the possibility of that being viewed doesn't occur to him.]

I'll look into that. Drawing is a hobby of mine.

[The suggestion could've just been a lucky guess, after all.]

Yes. Sort of. Ask Tony. [Three answers for three questions right off the bat. Then, after a moment, she continues on.]

Hey, Steve. [Layla speaks with an easy familiarity, giving him a knowing smirk. Oh, she knows who Steve Rogers is. She's never actually spoken with the Captain America in her world, but everyone knows about him. Plus, she has some issues with one of his teammates.

That would be Quicksilver. For the record.]

[He has no problem attaching those answers to his questions. Steve simply doesn't want to ask Tony for anything, much less a job. It's easy to keep that thought to himself, though.

He simply nods in response to her answer for a moment. He's introduced himself already, so it's not weird that she knows his name. The familiarity, though? That's another thing entirely.]

[Take Three of who knows how many infinite attempts. Well, it makes sense they'd have trouble pinning him down.]

Yes and theoretically yes but potentially no. The last one I'm sure you'll have under control soon enough.

The job isn't much of an issue now, yes.

[It's the same sort of roundabout answers he's been hearing, but he figures there has to be more to it.]

What's your opinion on it? That just sounds like a big maybe.

[This is the third Steve he's met here, fourth if he's including the one from the other world. Bruce doesn't look surprised. He doesn't dislike Steve; he finds him altogether more trustworthy than most people, but he also wouldn't call them friends, necessarily. They just don't know each other well enough.]

Hi, Captain. You have any questions left?

[And has Tony offered him a job yet? Bruce should probably go check that rather than asking out loud, since Tony's undoubtedly going to stalk this conversation.]

[Likewise, Steve doesn't know Bruce that well at all, but he has a high opinion of him.]

I think all of my questions have been answered. It's good to see you. [He genuinely means it, but Steve isn't one for false pleasantries to begin with. Familiar faces are definitely welcome, in his book, as long as they aren't his enemies.

Of course, were that to happen, he'd handle it accordingly.]

[Clark holds back his wish to simply yell 'Steve!' to the network. Checking other people's replies is easy enough, and Steve did seem like he didn't recognize the place. He probably wouldn't recognize Superman either, and he doesn't want to make the man think he's disappointed. Hardly so, Steve is always good news.

But his excitement is so easy to tell, it's almost palpable.]

Welcome to the turtle, captain. I see you're busy reuniting with old friends, so I'll simply offer to answer any questions about the turtle if you have any? As for the jobs... it depends on your skillset, of course.

[He's come upon so many people who know him already that it's almost overwhelming. But it's at least good that it's been positive. This man seems to know him too, and although this is definitely really weird for him, it's interesting.]

I think most of my questions have been answered as much as they can be. [He sighs.] What it comes to now is just getting used to how things work around here, though I think I might have taken care of the job part.

[There's a brief pause before he speaks again. Being called captain hasn't escaped him.]

If you don't mind me asking, have we met before?

[ And most importantly, the question that she's almost afraid to ask, does he know who she is? ]

I already spoke to him. Apparently Stark Industries was in need of an art department. [That's one way to put it, really.] He also said your mother is here.

[A bit of a nod. His relationship with the prior Cap was... turbulent, to say the least, but Bruce did respect the man. On a deeper level than most people ever get from him.]
