Hello, my name is Jacob Kane. [ It looks like Cain is in a kedanese shop somewhere. He waves for the camera, makes sure not to jostle the cup he has by his elbow. ] What I'm going to say is specifically meant for the foreigner population of Keeliai, but in the interest of transparency I'm bringing this up on the public network. There's no point in the suggestion at all if we do anything in secret. That said...

We need some sort of system. No, I'm not talking about government or laws or enforcement thereof, but any type of accountability we can agree to. With the current state of things, it's just not feasible for us to keep acting as individuals — whether or not we have anything aside from our status as non-natives in common, we are a group all on our own and I honestly believe we'd all benefit from having something put into place that would keep us from imploding and possibly taking innocents with us in the crossfire.

Now, at this point, all I really ask is that we discuss it. Ideas, suggestions, thoughts and feelings on the matter. Just to collate how we feel as a whole before maybe organizing a meeting in person to go over finer details. Even if you haven't been here long, or don't believe in the idea of a system, I would like to hear why so we can try to address any issues.

If nothing else, we'll all learn something from the exercise, right?

Even with a system in place, there is no guarantee that that wouldn't happen anyway...

There's never a guarantee for anything, but that doesn't mean we should just sit back and wait for something to happen. What reason is there to not work together? Not on everything, not for whatever we don't want to share, but on the big things. Stuff that's going to affect all of us.

Have we not been working together on the big things? I mean, we could be more organized about it, but perhaps if we just...offered the family as a safe place, and didn't worry so much about the politics of it, then everything will fall into place.

I'm glad we agree about that. If someone doesn't want to worry about politics, they don't have to. That's just my thing, and organization is needed in some part for any group. This wouldn't be a business, or a government, or a requirement, but it makes sense to let people take care of things that they're willing to do to help and those who just want the protection or camaraderie are welcome.

Would you expect equal standing with the other families? We may also want to reach out to them personally for their input.

[Not that she truly cared what the other families heads thought, but it was simply the right way to play the game and she didn't think that they would object to more organization on the foreigner's end.]

To be honest, I don't think the families expect equal standing with each other. Reaching out would be the next step once we've gotten a better idea of our own unity and goals.

I'd say that our goal should be quite evident...To aid in the stability and protection of Keeliai and contribute to society in a productive manner by working with the Kedan.

I'd imagine some people don't care what the kedan do or anything but their own protection. That doesn't mean you're wrong, though, just that if it turns out not as agreeable as we hope, we'll need a plan B.

And do you have an idea for this 'Plan B'.

Simply to survive would be the broad strokes of it. Maintaining our own interests before we could afford to reach out and help those around us, which isn't necessarily anything contradictory to plan A. Just adding a higher priority on top of it.

Or just making the idea more about us and less about them.

Essentially, yes. Some people might find that more agreeable whether or not I agree with that myself.
