Hello, my name is Jacob Kane. [ It looks like Cain is in a kedanese shop somewhere. He waves for the camera, makes sure not to jostle the cup he has by his elbow. ] What I'm going to say is specifically meant for the foreigner population of Keeliai, but in the interest of transparency I'm bringing this up on the public network. There's no point in the suggestion at all if we do anything in secret. That said...

We need some sort of system. No, I'm not talking about government or laws or enforcement thereof, but any type of accountability we can agree to. With the current state of things, it's just not feasible for us to keep acting as individuals — whether or not we have anything aside from our status as non-natives in common, we are a group all on our own and I honestly believe we'd all benefit from having something put into place that would keep us from imploding and possibly taking innocents with us in the crossfire.

Now, at this point, all I really ask is that we discuss it. Ideas, suggestions, thoughts and feelings on the matter. Just to collate how we feel as a whole before maybe organizing a meeting in person to go over finer details. Even if you haven't been here long, or don't believe in the idea of a system, I would like to hear why so we can try to address any issues.

If nothing else, we'll all learn something from the exercise, right?

This isn't necessarily about telling anyone what's good or bad, but what most likely to keep us safe. I understand our morals are different, as are our points of view, which is why it wouldn't be one person; it would be a group of us coming to a conclusion based on what we understand, the people we know, and the current situation here in Keeliai.

My vagueness is because I'm still trying to get a feel for what everyone can agree on. If not everyone, then the majority. It is impossible to please everyone, I know that much, but just speaking like that isn't very becoming to helping people feel secure. From what I've gathered so far, the best idea may be to have a group of people ready to come together and discuss current events, figure out a course of action, and then suggest it to the rest and let them decide if they agree or not, or to come to the group with concerns they aren't sure how to handle.

[ That's all why Cain isn't saying anything about her age, about her experience or asking what she knows of such matters. Everyone is different, and everyone has the right to voice their thoughts; he isn't one much for silencing people. ]

That's still a group making a decision about someone else's life. That's still giving power to people over someone else. Plus then what do you do if someone doesn't like what this group decides and says no? Someone who's supposed to be held "accountable," I mean?

[She appreciates him talking back to her like a human being and not like a kid -- which is why she's answering him back in kind. There's nothing heated in her voice -- just the firmness of someone who knows her mind and has an opinion.]

[Most people would have gotten a less than flattering nickname by this point. Or a shot of her picking her nose.]

Either they would talk it out with the rest of us to try and come to an agreement, or if they took action in a way that would be harmful for everyone else against advice then they would have to take care of the fallout themselves. This is supposed to be for those who would want it, who would appreciate having others back them up, not just blanketing everyone and saying they have to follow the rules now.

Okay. Sounds a little more interesting -- though kind of more like a support group than anything else.

Probably won't actually hold people accountable. Anyone who doesn't like to listen to that kind of thing, anyway.

No, probably not. At the very least, it can provide somewhere for those who want to be uninvolved in any incidents somewhere safe to be without having every foreigner lumped into the same group or all of us being forced to act individually.

Like I said before, I think at least the sharing of information would be good. Doesn't do anyone any good just in one person's head.

For a while, people were keeping a log of what we knew and didn't.

Absolutely. It's no use trying to think things through if we're operating on only half the information.

Were they? If you know around when it was last brought up or how to find it, we might be able to revive that. Now would be as good a time as any.
