[Kal-El seems to be posting from a cafe in the water sector, judging by his surroundings. A cafe that has seen better days. Kal's face makes it obvious he wasn't expecting the cafe to be in such a state when he got there, seeing all this go on without being able to help is really hitting him hard.]

Superman here. I'm aware the rationing is the hot topic nowadays but there isn't... much I can do about that. I will do my best to help out Roger's food bank and if anyone needs me to do so don't hesitate to contact me but for now you will have to forgive me for deviating from the topic.

This last month I have noticed a lot of foreigners that happened to have powers with them that were... not sure what to do with them at best, outright scared of them at worse. I want to help with that.

I am a super-powered being myself, we are called 'metahumans' in my world. I was thinking maybe there should be some kind of... way for us to meet, to talk about our problems. To train each other if our powers are similar, to help us out when it's needed. I'm not sure where I was going with this but that... well, that was my suggestion.

[A little shrug and a smile] I would like to hear people's opinion in it?

[How tiny, he's even tinier than Damian. Younger kids keep appearing on the turtle lately, it's got Kal a little worried.]

It's not a matter of genetics, per se. It's a matter of... [He makes a face, trying to find the right words.] Superpowers? I'm not sure how else to word it.

If you have an ability most human people cannot do, then you're a metahuman.

What if someone is just better at something than anyone else? Say, faster, stronger, or smarter?

It depends on how better they are. I know someone who's faster, stronger and smarter than the average human but he's still... well, a human.

Are you talking about yourself? If you were willing to meet up we could discuss if your abilities fall between human standards or not.

[Bean encrypts the feed. Things are getting a little too personal, but he's too interested to stop now.]

I'm genetically different. I'm not sure how or how much, but people have said I'm not human because of it. I'd like to meet.

[Kal lets out a curious hum when he sees the encryption, it's an even better one that he could have managed. Which isn't saying much, he does better with Kryptonian technology than he does with this one but still, he sounds no older than 9... ]

Sure. Where would you like to meet? I'm currently on the water sector but I can fly anywhere rather easily.

[The console is turned off as soon as he gets the room number. Soon there's a knocking on the window of Bean's suite, and a brightly colored man is waiting to be left in outside.]

[Bean had been waiting by the door, so the knock at the window takes him by surprise. He goes to open it, seemingly unfazed by the brightly colored outfit.]

You really can fly.

Among other things, yes. [He gives him a smile as he slides in, making a point to land on the floor instead of hovering. New people don't usually react well to his powers.]

I didn't get your name.

Do you want a real name or a fake one like "Superman?" [Judging you hard, flying man.]

[If he perceives the accusation he doesn't show it, he just lets his smile turn into a half smirk.]

My birth name is Kal-El, if that's what you're asking. Superman is the name the press gave me when I first made myself public and it kind of stuck.

If you want to give me a nickname I don't mind, I work with plenty of people who use them.

[Bean turns and walks into the suite proper, pulling himself up on the couch.] You can call me Bean. And that's not a nickname.

[And now straight to business.]

What differentiates a metahuman from a human who's just better at something? Genetics?

[He doesn't coment on the name, he's seen weirder.]

Yes and no. In my world, some 'metahumans' were simply human once, and some kind of... trauma activated the metagene part of the population has, giving them some kind of ability, usually different from each person. What kind of ability and why was still yet to be studied.

But there are other kinds of metahumans, such as I. I am an alien, and my abilities are beyond those of a human. Thus, metahuman.

[The lack of comment on his name is noted and appreciated.]

What if you are human, or you think you are, but some people say you might not be, because you're different?

First, you should probably not pay much attention to those people if what they wanted was to attack or hurt you with those comments.

As for being human... you are a human, as much as they have changed your DNA they can't change that. I can take a look at it if you want, and tell you what I see but even if you are a metahuman you'd still be human.

You understand that, right?

I suppose. [He lets that pass quickly in favor of his curiosity at Kal-El's comment.] How can you take a look?

[He gives the boy a smile.] My eyes can do many things. Among them, I can use them as an extremely potent microscope. So potent I can even look at people's genetic material.

That hardly seems possible. [But then again, it hardly seems possible that they're in a city atop a giant turtle.] Very well, if you want you can look, I guess.

[If he does, he would see that Bean's genetic makeup is 99.999% normal human, with only one difference. There is a "key" turned which allows Bean to be preternaturally intelligent.]

[Kal raises an eyebrow.] I came flying through your window and you think microscopic vision is 'hardly possible'?

[But he seems just amused, and as soon as permission is granted he gets to work. There's no noticeable shift on Kal's eyes except for a a little blue fluorescence coming from his eyes.

It takes him a few moments to find anything different in Bean's genetic material, and he's about to stop and tell him there's nothing different when he sees the key. He doesn't know enough about genetics to extrapolate the results, but...]

I see it, the difference. It's- it's minuscule though.

[Bean shrugs.] I've seen anti-grav technology before, though never on a personal level.

[After Kal-El delivers the results, Bean stares at his stomach as though he can see inside himself.] Oh. I see.

[Kal flies and crouches in front of him.] Something tells me you already knew about this though.

Were you looking for confirmation?

I knew there was something. [He shakes himself out of his reverie.] I've heard people say I wasn't human, because of this. Because I was made this way.

Everyone has differences on their DNA, son. Of course you are human- one only has to take a look at you.

[But he knows that's not enough. He looks pretty much humanoid and he's an alien, not human in the least.]

Like I said the difference is minimal. And it was obviously beneficial, seeing how smart you are. [He doesn't know the cons of this, but he's sure there will be. Playing with genetics is never a smart move- but that will be dealt with when the time comes.]

So I shouldn't believe them. [He says it mostly to himself. Then, looking up at Kal.]
