Wow, what does your name stand for? I've never heard of one that sounds like it. And don't worry, I'm getting a lot of practice.

[She holds up a large pad of paper filled with words struck out next to their correct counterparts.]

[This is actually something Enjolras has been asked before, or at least, he has been told the meaning of his name sometimes. He does not know why this is of so much importance but...] It comes from a word in the other language spoken in the part of France where I was born. The Occitan language has the word enjeura, and it means to terrify. I have been told I have that tendency. [That's said a bit tongue in cheek, though it IS also perfectly true.] Ah I see. That looks like a very good start. Perhaps someone here. I do have a friend who did translations.

[Looking surprised, Korra leans onto her desk placing her cheek on her fist.] To terrify? You don’t look that intimidating to me.

No offense. [It’s obvious by her tone that she’s not being mean or teasing.]

Translations would help a little, but really it’s just all these rules about the spelling. I mean a lot of these words sound exactly the same but are spelled out differently. Why would anyone need three words for “there”, I mean really? [There’s way too many words that are crossed that seem ridiculous to anyone who can read English.]

Do you have a nickname? I don’t think I could say it properly without a lot of practice first.

Apparently I am capable of it in the right moments.

[Enjolras's own expression as he says this is a bit wryly amused. He does not see it either exactly, so...it is incredibly strange for him as well, really.]

Those rules ARE strange. And so many words that mean the same thing on top of that. Which one do you use most of the time? How can people tell with things like this? It gives me such a headache to begin to try.

Well, not especially. My FIRST name is Apollon, though no one has used that for a while. Ange sometimes, if my friends are being...whimsical.

Memorizing all of them is going to take a lot of time. Just have to stick my nose to the grind stone.

So if your first name is Apollon, where did Enjolras come from? [Detective Korra on the case.]

Ah, well. It is my family name. In France, they come after our given ones. As to where it came from... I have never thought to ask. And Apollon feels...strange. Too much like Apollo. It feels...pretentious to have a name so close to that of an ancient God.

I’m not going to kid you, it’s a pretty impressive name. Had no idea it was that close to the name of some god though. Personally I do like the name [Spoken slowly.] Ejolras, it’s just hard to say. But don’t worry, I’ll keep working on it.

I’m the Metal by the way. What sector are you in?

Thank you. I do appreciate that you are trying. And am not entirely sure what my parents had been thinking of. I was, apparently, rather blond as an infant. [And Enjolras is ruefully tugging at his hair now. Not that much has changed.]

Ah, I am in wood with several of my friends. How are things in Metal then?

A friend of mine in our sector lost his suite, so I’m letting him sleep on my couch until they finish all the repairs. I only got to help out three sectors during that, I missed Wood and Fire entirely. I bet there was a lot fires in your sector. Did you get hurt at all?

There WERE quite a bit of them yes. I had just arrived so I was not certain of WHAT was going on, but I manage to stay unscathed though we had some others who were not so lucky, even as we tried to help. Combeferre and I have been rooming together since my..."return" here, though I do not remember the first time. It seems to be something we did then as well. It IS a comfort to have a friend close by.

That was really noble of you to help other people. [For Korra and others powers and abilities, saving people was expected. When someone who didn’t have a form of protection in those circumstances still risked their lives for others was a real sign of courage. Maybe it showed in her smile. But then-]

Whoa, whoa. You were here before too and don't remember anything from then either? [The only other person aside from her she knew of had been Tarrlok, but he kept his memories when he returned.</small.] I’m in that same boat!

It was...simply something that needed to be done, I think. My friends were noble, to stand with me, to make it possible, perhaps more so because they did it for the same reason, that pursuit of the better world we all wished for.

[For Enjolras, it was simply a matter as easy as breathing. Someone was being harmed and it was his job to protect their right to be free from that harm. It hardly felt a choice most days, so much as an instinct, or a charge from Patria herself. But he isn't going to say that and look totally insane here either. Instead, he is returning half a smile and ducking his head.]

Still. It is kind of you to say such. And yes, I am told that I was here before. This was around the time the ah...satellite? fell. Perhaps that is why I do not have memories. The same has happened to you then? I feel better to know that I am not alone.

Okay, you and your friends are officially cool. [Official Avatar claim, yep.] If you ever need help in that kind of situation, you can get a hold of me through the network. I’d gladly help you all out.

Same feeling here. Another person from my world had that happen, but he kept his memories. And he’s kind of hard to talk to about…anything. [Previously sinister politicians are hard to confide in. Having someone else that had the experience was comforting.]

The person who told me I was here before linked me to my network posts from whenever I was here. It was really weird, but it shed a little bit of light on things. [She shrugs her shoulders, one of them reaching her cheek.] If that'll help you in any I mean.

I...is it a good thing to be cool? [Enjolras is having visions of weather, or of waiting for coffee to cool before he sips it, or of waiting for fevers to go down, but not any other connotations of that word.] I am sorry, we do not use much slang in my Paris. Your help however...that would be greatly, greatly appreciated, and perhaps needed here if things progress as they are seeming to.

That is...incredibly odd then. One other from my world was here and vanished but she did it at the time that I seem to have and has not made a return. I wonder what it is Cosette would say were she here and now, about all of this. It does...help to have someone to bear this with.

Ah, my friends have told me a little about my activities but not very much. Perhaps that IS worth trying for.

Oh, well, yeah. Being cool is, um, being held in high regard. [First time she’s had to explain common slang.] I’m on call. [No, Korra. Stop.] I mean, I’m readily available should you need me. [Man that sounded awkward to her.]

Maybe more time to needs to pass before they come back? According to the date of the last post from me, it took me about six months I think. So don’t give up hope!

Well, I thank you for the compliment then. [Enjolras nods his understanding of the term. While he does not think it is something he would try out himself, it is good to know what others are speaking of much of the time, at least.]

Ah "on call" is something I DO have knowledge of. My dearest friend is a doctor and has been in that position more often than not while he was working in the clinic at Necker. I will take that under advisement all the same, of course.

Perhaps so. I shall tell that to the one who mourns her disappearance worst as well. Perhaps it will bring him some hope. [Admittedly, Enjolras LIKES Marius without Cosette to get in the way of things, but even so, he can understand that it would be deliberately cruel to withold hope from him.]

Are you? Is this a common thing where you come from? [His face is carefully blank, although he understands that one perfectly well.]

Is that right? I’m a bit of medic myself. Guess you know too people in the medical field now. [Whether waterbending could be considered a legitimate medical field where Enjolras was completely beside the point for her.] Oh? Well it’d be good if that did perk him up a bit. After all, we’re living examples that people can come back.

[Crap, no. Her eyes widen and she waves her hands furiously.] No, no, no. No. That’s not common at all. It’s just an expression! It, uh, it means that I’m available if you need someone to listen to you. You know, when you think no one else wants to hear what you have to say.

Ah, a few more than that here now, which is most likely beneficial. I would not say I have a penchant for becoming injured but I... [he tends to neglect himself in terms of sleep and food, even if the other necessities of life are things that he can typically remember to take care of. ] do tend to need medical attention often enough that more than one of you is a great benefit. And yes, something to help Pontmercy, encourage him, would be good right now. I will have to bring it up.

[There is a long moment where Enjolras continues to look blank and then he's actually smiling briefly. What a troll.]

Scrapper much? [Korra asked with her eyebrows raised and a wry grin on her face. Anyone in need of frequent medical attention that didn't have any major injuries meant a fighter, or at least to Korra it did.]

Pontmercy? Oh! Marius, right? He's actually helping me with my English a little bit too. He seems nice. So he's the guy who's upset about this Cosette then? Poor guy.

[Waaaaait. Korra caught a glimpse of that smile.] Oh har, har. [How could she ever think that someone would believe there was anyone who was just made of ears? Seriously.] I see what you did there.

Not so much of one as that. More...absent minded about certain...details of things necessary for life. I tend toward some illness, I suppose. [Enjolras is not so much of a fighter himself, save for when he needs to be. There HAVE been some occasion however...]

When I fight, it tends to be as the result of someone else starting it I must admit. I can hardly deny that I enjoy finishing them well however.

Is Marius then? [That sounds particularly...interesting to Enjolras somehow. He's mildly curious how Marius will do teaching, if it would suit him more than law or not. It will be interesting to learn.]

He was quite upset about this, yes. He bears it bravely enough, but even so. The future we fought for was one where we might be free to let love dispel hate and he does love her a good deal.

[Enjolras's smile is growing, just a bit here, yeah, and becoming a smirk.]

I could not resist that one, I fear.

Those things are pretty important. [How could anyone even forget to- Yeah, she can't dwell on that. Headaches weren't her goal today.] Maybe you should take it easy for a week? Take a change of pace. Like a mini vacation.

[She nods.] Yep, he wanted to know if I needed some assistance with it. I had no idea that he was having a rough time. It was nice of him. Maybe he’s getting over it already? [Yeah, she has no clue how deeply he felt for her.]

I’ll let you have that one. [She admonished with a smirk.] But I’m on to you mister.
