[A broad smile is on Korra’s face when she turns on the video feed. She’s leaning to one side of the chair and looking pleased as punch.]

I’ll be reopening the dojo in the Wood Sector and I need some teachers, mentors, instructors- whatever you want to call yourselves, to teach people that want to learn. Any fighting style will do, but if it’s martial arts; then all the better.

If you’re interested in lessons, get in touch with me here or privately. I don't know how much lessons are going to be yet, but I'll try to keep it low.

[There's a pause where Korra considers her next words and her smile fades a little.]

If you're half as good as Dinah Lance is [Not was.] then I need to talk you.

[Four months of training with Dinah isn't enough for Korra. She wants to dig in further into the various styles she was mastering, and this is the only way she knows of to find someone that can help her do just that.]

[Actually, she’s arranging some things on her dresser when she hears the knock. And the humming. One day she’ll sit Mike down and have him sing them all aloud so she’s not left wondering.

Stepping onto the bed, she opens the window.]

Come on. I moved all the stuff aside for demonstrations, so you’ll have plenty of room to work with.

[That will be a dark day.
A dark day, indeed.]

Seriously?

[He swings in the window, a touch less gracefully than usual, but that's mostly due to the sheer number of layers he has to wear to stay warm.]

I thought that was like...you know? Formality.

It's been a while since I got to see some ninjutsu. [Humor me.] Besides, meat's still cooking.

[Her suite’s so much warmer than outside.] Hope you don’t plan on wearing that. Don’t need you falling on your shell.

[~~Insert upside down turtle joke here.~~]

Oh ha ha ha, how it is to laugh at the REPTILE in the winter time.

[His voice is comically muffled by his scarf. Or, at least it is until he unwinds it from around his head and neck. The jacket comes off next. Then the sweater after that, revealing the warming stone attached to the t-shirt he's wearing as a base layer.]

[Folding her arms with a wry smirk.] Asti seems to be doing just fine.

[Leaving the clothes on the bed, Korra motions her head for Mike to follow her out the room and up the stairs.]

So what’s with the rock? [Since she rarely uses the network, Korra hasn’t heard about those yet.]

I'm sure if I had a couple thousand freeloading warmbodies riding on my back I'd be a heck of a lot warmer too.

[Mike's now balanced on one foot, removing his boots.]

It's a magic rock Leo found. Holds heat. Or generates it. I don't really remember which.

[But apparently that doesn't stop Mike from attaching it to his body.]

[Magic. All Korra can think of is it being something from the shop that Zatanna works at.]

It won't set you on fire or anything, will it? [She's betting he didn't even think of that.]

It hasn't yet.

[See Korra? Nothing to worry about!]

[Facepalm.]

Mike. [If he shows up at that the clinic with burns, she’ll let him have his comeuppance then. Slightly exasperated, Korra just gives up on anything beyond that and beckons for him to follow her to the second floor where the wooden dummy and heavy punching bag are set up.]

Why don’t you work up a sweat? [And appetite. The smell of the meat cooking is starting to make its way around the suite.]

[WhaaaAAAAaaaat! Both Leo and Leonardo say they're safe, so they're safe! What's to know?!]

I can do that.

[Mike waits until he's up on the second floor before removing his pants and stone-laden shirt. You can tell he's been living with the Bookends for as long as he has, because instead of just tossing the garments into the corner, he takes the second or two to fold them nicely.]

Okay, so what's the deal? This joker here owe you money? Dishonor your clan? Kick a puppy?

Yeah...Yeah I'm looking at you, mister!

[That last bit is to the Dummy, who is now on the receiving end of more than a couple of Three Stooges-level attacks.
Now with more sound-effects.]

OH A WISEGUY! NYUK Nyuk nyuk.

[Korra’s never been in a classroom before, but for the first time she’s experiencing the need to not laugh at the class clown. Which doesn’t last long since there’s no teacher that would give her the evil eye, so she just cracks up because what even Mike.

If you can get anyone that wants to learn that, you need to let me know so I can watch! [After she gets it die down, Korra simply falls into sitting on the mats.]

Just try not to break it, the good ones like it cost a lot in the Wood Sector.

[Hey now! Mike can even get April to laugh at the Three Stooges, thankyouverymuch!]

Sure thing.

[Mike turns to the Dummy again.]

You hear that? She says I have to go easy on you.

[It's the last joke he makes before bowing properly to the Dummy, and settling into to do some speed work. Speed work that only gets faster the longer he does it, due to the motion literally warming him up as he progresses.]

[It’s not too often that Korra gets to see some ninja action from the turtles, and less so from Mike, so her eyes are glued to him. Putting both her hands on he knees, Korra leans forward without even knowing it and she becomes engrossed in watching the style.

This is just the warm up, the basics, she knows that and she's ready to see how that flows into the more complex forms.]

[Training is usually so boooooring. Running drill after drill is not Mike's idea of a good time. Which is a shame, because physically he's quite gifted.

This right here though? This counts as showing off, which for Mike is more of a game than actual training. How fast can he go? And for how long?
that's what he's trying to push to right in the here and now.
How far can he push this particular envelope before it bends?

His hands appear to blur...until he stops. The pattern broken, one misplaced jab in the wrong spot and Mike is forced to take a step back. He rubs his elbow.]

Argh, cripes! And right in the funnybone too. You sir, are a force to be reckoned with.

[An impressed, and humored, Korra is the result of that workout. Once he’s done, she stands up and steps over to look between him and the dummy.]

Straight to the elbow, maybe I should hire him too. [A quick, discreet glance lets her know he’s not bleeding. One of the habits she’s picked up from volunteering at the clinic too often.]

So who are looking to avoid teaching that to? Because if it’s me, I’m going to be kind of disappointed.

Speed work? Or smacking myself in the elbow...

[Yeah, he's still making wincing faces while flexing the hand on that arm. Damn that hurt.]

Probably no one, mostly because I hate doing that kind of stuff myself, so spending any time watching someone else do it over and over again is just not high on my list of things to do before I die.

[Mike pauses, considering his option.]

Hand to hand, I guess? Lock picking. Slight of hand. Some traps?

[Not surprised in the least at Mike not being able to drill someone on techniques or forms.]

Hand to hand. I think the lock picking and sleight of hand should be kept to a minimum. [Guess who's not fond of thieves.]

[Able and willing are two separate things...]

Awww, but those are the most fun.

[One day he'll be willing, right?]

Maybe you can show me those later. [Standing back up, she brushes her pants down.]

Come on, let's get you some water. [And that food.]

[With Korra? Maybe. With anyone who walk in off the street looking for Kick-Ass Kung-Fu? Nooooot so much.]

Maybe, if you play your cards right. Tell me more about this water of which you speak.

I’m getting the hang of cards, just so you know. [After going downstairs, Korra heads over to the kitchen and gets a bottle of water from one of the cupboards. It turns ice cold and she tosses it over to Mike.]

Taste it for yourself. Pure as you can get on Tu Vishan. [While she’s up, Korra gets out a couple of plates to put the grilled steaks on.]

So what do you think, feel up to teaching for some income?

[He easily catches the bottle of water, opens, it and takes a sip. The full body convulsion is one part actual shiver at the temperature change, to five parts overly dramatic reaction for the lulz.]

Woah, you weren't kidding!

[He hops up to sit on the nearest counter top while Korra tends to the food.]

Teaching sure! Getting paid to do it...I have to admit, that's kind of weird.

[Mike, you ham.

After forking the steaks onto the plates, Korra slides Mike’s over to him along with a knife and fork.]

It’d be weirder if I didn’t pay you. [Said as she chews on a large bite of her own steak.]

[It's a force of showing off habit, but Mike spins the knife in his hand before he uses it to cut the food in front of him. The fork gets no such special treatment.]

You think? I...I've never really had a paying job before.

[Ninjas and their knives. Korra doesn’t seem to mind, even watching his skill with some interest.]

Me either, not until I got here. [Which is why anything not spent on food or a little bit of spending gets added to her savings.] It’s…okay I guess.

[But it’s refreshing to know that she’s not the only one who’s had that problem.]
