There's a lot of things I've learned to just accept since I've been here. A magic bottle with the personification of death inside it is something that I can live with. What really confuses is me is how my dog ended up inside it and who put him there.

[At that moment there's a bark and Hawke's notch-eared mabari pushes his way into the feed, examining the strange thing that Hawke appears to be talking to. Hawke's hand falls to Notch's head as he pats the dog's head.]

Don't get me wrong, I love having him back, but answers are always nice.

[So would knowing that his dog isn't actually possessed by whatever corruption was in the bottle.]

At least the trip was fun enough. We should plan another one soon. Maybe this time without a dragon the size of a mountain, or the swamp. I'm thinking a chateau overlooking a lake.

Two years ago, there were riots and barricades in the streets. We very nearly overthrew the king. We DID cause one to run away.

[If he seems proud, well. The people had earned that.]

We tried again, which is what brought most of us from my home here, dying in that attempt, last summer. I think we might have used the sort of support and skill you bring along.

[Hawke's not sure if Enjolras really would have wanted him there. One of his dearest friends is a guardswoman. If she was involved in something like that, well...]

Well, when one sees a value and a skill in someone...they ought to point it out right then. I may have learned that the hard way but it IS still true.

Well, it's taken a bit of learning, I fear. Better that I picked it up but I would not contend I am so wise as to have known it all along.

That's big of you. I prefer to just act like I know what I'm doing until I actually know what's going on.

There IS something for that approach. It tends to inspire confidence, at least. Sometimes one might even delude themselves that way.

If only I could be so lucky to delude myself into thinking that.

Ah, I did say sometimes. Perhaps...fifteen percent of the time.

I'm aiming more for a full hundred to be honest, but even if I could pull that off I'd be happy.

Deluding people into believing you're delusional. Sounds like leadership to me.

Well, close enough, I suppose? Deluding them towards your own level of confidence is nicer, I admit.

You have a point there. It must be why my friends followed me for as long as they did.

Principles are all you need. Well, that and some boredom I think.

Oh being bored seems like a change. Who knows? I may enjoy it.

[He's arching an amused brow there, in turn, fine with changing the conversation in that direction, really.]

Can't say it's something that I've had much experience with either. Must be why I'm so popular.

Mm likely I think. People do tend to seek out what they find as exciting or daring. By my estimation, you are both.

Oh, I daresay he DID in most things. He DID manage to get out of law...[And he's remembering that a lot of the worlds here do not exactly have the same equivalents as his own and correcting himself.] ...ah clerking school when most of us were stuck with it.

Ah, most often, Bahorel shared his affinity for punching things and breaking windows with the rest of us. I do wish he might come here though. It would be interesting to see what he would make of this.
