[ He sticks out his tongue briefly. ] Still, it tastes like an awfully good day, if you ask me, which you didn't; but it's a bit late to protest as I've already told you.

Anyway, I'm curious about some things, so let's skip pleasantries and go straight to queries, if you're so inclined. [ He holds up one finger. ] Thing one: where and when are you lot from? An approximation is fine. And don't worry about confusing me if it's complicated or timey-wimey shenanigans are involved. I happen to be rather quick on the uptake.

[ Two fingers up, like a peace sign. ] Thing two: flatmates. [ said as if it is the newest, most delicious word to ever be spoken. ] Apparently, I'll be lodging in WO-2B, so if you're also lodging in WO-2B, I am led to believe that makes us mates of the flat variety. In other words, lodgers, roomies, neighbors. etc. Which means we really ought to get together and chat a bit, maybe eat crisps, talk about girls — standard flatmate stuff. Yeaaaah. Flatmate stuff. Love a good flatmate, I do.

[ Three fingers and a grin so wide, it nearly splits his face. ] Thing three: great, big, sexy, blue box. I'm looking for her, and she's probably looking for me. [ He stops everything — the smiling, the laughing, the fast-talking, the gestures — and takes a moment to stare at Enjolras. It's too long a look to be superficial, but too short to reveal much on the Doctor's own face.

How curious. A man — no, a boy — who begins a conversation with his end. ]

In a student rebellion. [ said more to himself than anyone else. It's a statement, not a question, made obvious to him by the historical context, the clothes, and Enjolras' demeanor. ] A fine moment for humanity's youth, especially as their supposedly wiser elders fell horrifically short.

[ There's a brief, weighted pause before the Doctor continues, eyes shining. He's not grinning like he was before, though, because "the boy who died and opens his conversation with that cheery hook" has earned something more serious. ]

You noticed. Good eye, or rather, ear. Still, I'll have to disappoint you; I'm afraid. There is no single time or place I'm "from," not anywhen or anywhere. I'm a traveler, a wanderer, and I'll never be a settler.

For instance, what you find weird, I might find perfectly normal, and one of these Frenchmen might find it just a tad odd — but again, subjective words, whose definitions are easily and frequently changed.
