Hi. My name’s. Korra. I’m the Avatar.

[There’s an awkward pause before she says her name. The cadence in her words is a bit off, a combination of never using the network before (or not that she can recall) and the unknown expectation of who will answer.]

Some of you may know me, I guess?

[Guh, she hates trying to cover it and just tackles the heart of the message.]

Look. I can’t remember anything since I was ghosted. [Or whatever the hell people are calling it.] Not this city, this turtle, or anyone.

But a doctor said that if I just hang around familiar things and people, even scents, then it might help me remember some things. I just, can’t force myself to remember them. So if you recognize me or know something else that could help I’d be grateful.

[Memory loss... Rory hasn't had it directly himself, but he does know how bad it can get - after all, Amy couldn't remember him before too and that did hurt.

But that's something else altogether.]

I'm sorry to hear that. [He's a nurse, yes, but these things aren't really his specialty...] I don't know you, but if you ever need help I can try to give it. I know somebody who experienced something like that before.

Thanks, that’s good to know. [Since she has no idea who’s able to help and who isn’t. Everyone’s just a bunch of strangers really.]

Do you know if they ever got their memories back?

[A nod.] Yeah. It took a long while... but the memories came back eventually.

[Relief washes over her face.]

I’ll take a long while over never any day. Do you know where the clinic is?

Ah--yeah. [He works there now, as a matter of fact.] Do you need directions? I can give them to you.

Yeah, please. I have no idea where anything is. Is there a city map or something I could use?

[....is there actually a map? That's actually a good question.]

Uh--give me a moment. I'll draw out one for you.

[Yeah here's a pause as Rory goes to get himself a pencil and a sheet of paper to draw said map. Just give him a bit, Korra, he'll get back to you.]

[She opens her mouth to protest at going through the trouble to draw one, but he’s already got the pencil going. Poking around the network a little while we she waits, Korra periodically checks back until he’s done.]

Hey, not bad. [It’s a location she’s been to pretty much every day since she started volunteering, but now it’s just a dot on a map for future reference.]

What else is on here?

[As it stands, it hasn't been long for Rory since he first started working in the same clinic, so he hasn't really seen Korra before. The connection isn't really made.]

Uh, nothing yet. [Small smile.] But I can add stuff if you need it. What are you looking out for?

I. don't really know yet. [In the map she has in her head is her unit of suites and now the clinic. Next to nothing in between or around.

She can only shrug her shoulders with an apologetic look.]

[Hm, well, okay. Rory ponders over this a bit, and then takes a minute to put down a few more points on the map before he brings it up again to show Korra.]

Well, if anything, necessities tend to be a good start. I've marked some places where you get them, along with some other places that you might find useful as well.

[Completely dedicated to the fact that her memories will return.]

I’ll try out some of these food markets and see if maybe some of the scents will get anything going.

[Of course they would return. Why would they not return? Gone, but never forgotten, as the Doctor says before.]

That's a great idea. And maybe some other places you think you might always go to. Maybe something there might help as well.

I hope so. But this map should help out a lot. [Then she realizes that she kind of needs the actual paper itself.]

The console can’t send that, can it? [The question is sarcastic or mocking, it’s genuine since she really has no idea what these things are fully capable of.]

Er--no. [Yeah, he should have thought of that a bit sooner... hm...

Well, to be fair, its not a hard problem to fix.]

I can come over and pass it to you, if you don't mind. That or we can meet somewhere and I'll pass it over all the same. [Tiny smile.] I can even throw in a free meal, if that makes it easier.

[Oh no, food. Her weakness.]

Sure, we can do the easy route. Point out where to on the map and I'll have Naga find it.

[Food is always the best way to make a good impression, Rory has learned.]

Uh--how about here? [Points to a spot somewhere in the Earth sector area.] It's got some really nice dishes.

[Squinting for only a moment when she puts to her memory banks, since there’s a lot of vacancy there now, Korra nods.]

That works for me. I’ll head over there whenever you’ve got time. [She’s actually pretty hungry after going through all the responses on the network. Who knew losing your memory could result in so much of this stuff?

Not this girl.]

[Hey, it's all good. Rory can kind of understand. All this brainpower does take quite a bit of energy.]

Well, how about later, then? Dinner, or something?

[...at least you should know what dinner is, right?]

Yeah, that would be f-

[Beat.]

Uh, I have a boyfriend by the way.

[At least, that’s what she was told by alleged boyfriend.]

Uh--okay.

[Why is she telling that to him--oh wait.]

Oh, um. I'm already married. Just so you know.

[He won't try anything weird okay gosh why would you even think that. ~~Besides Amy would never forgive him.~~]

[That perks her right up.]

Awesome! You're the first married person I've met. [If she had her memories, that would be a lie because her parents, but for now it’s the truth.]

I'll see you there for dinner then!

[First person or not, its not like its a really amazing thing. Sure, Amy is wonderful and everything, but loads of people are married... right...?

Anyway.]

Yeah. I'll see you there.

Alright, I'll see you in the evening for dinner.

[After trying to learn mahjong from Clark and playing airball with Aang, Korra arrives a little late. It doesn't help that she somehow ended on the wrong side of the Earth Sector and had to steer Naga around traffic.

Which for the first time is fun, and scary. Like a roller coaster with no straps.]

Hey Rory, sorry I'm late. [She's wearing her usual clothes, and she's rather proud of herself for remember Rory's name after having a pretty active afternoon.]

Until then.

[Rory, on the other hand, busies himself for the rest of the day, not really giving the dinner too much thought until the time comes. And once it does Rory prepares himself easily, dressing up in a casual attire before he goes over to where he's supposed to meet her.

He's a bit early, but he tends to be early for most things and Rory is a patient man, so when Korra finally does come he's hardly that concerned about it. If anything, he's glad that she came - and remembered his name as well, for that matter.

Although the polar dog bear is kind of a new thing. But Rory has seen far stranger things even before coming to this place.]

Hello, Korra. [Smiles in a very gentlemanly and totally honest manner.] And don't worry about it, I wasn't waiting for too long. I hope your day was alright?
