Hi. My name’s. Korra. I’m the Avatar.

[There’s an awkward pause before she says her name. The cadence in her words is a bit off, a combination of never using the network before (or not that she can recall) and the unknown expectation of who will answer.]

Some of you may know me, I guess?

[Guh, she hates trying to cover it and just tackles the heart of the message.]

Look. I can’t remember anything since I was ghosted. [Or whatever the hell people are calling it.] Not this city, this turtle, or anyone.

But a doctor said that if I just hang around familiar things and people, even scents, then it might help me remember some things. I just, can’t force myself to remember them. So if you recognize me or know something else that could help I’d be grateful.

[Rory, on the other hand, busies himself for the rest of the day, not really giving the dinner too much thought until the time comes. And once it does Rory prepares himself easily, dressing up in a casual attire before he goes over to where he's supposed to meet her.

He's a bit early, but he tends to be early for most things and Rory is a patient man, so when Korra finally does come he's hardly that concerned about it. If anything, he's glad that she came - and remembered his name as well, for that matter.

Although the polar dog bear is kind of a new thing. But Rory has seen far stranger things even before coming to this place.]

Hello, Korra. [Smiles in a very gentlemanly and totally honest manner.] And don't worry about it, I wasn't waiting for too long. I hope your day was alright?

Yeah, I had some fun! [Something she really needed.] I think I really like sports. [Just as she looks to Naga to tell her to sit, the polar bear dog plops down and seems content to wait.]

Huh. Guess she’s really trained. [To Rory:] Come on, let’s go in. I’ve worked up an appetite.

[She even made sure to bring extra juulan just in case.]

Liking sports is great; exercise is pretty important.

[Stares a bit at the polar bear dog still... yeah, he can't get used to that. Is it a turtle thing? It looks like it belongs to the turtle thing.

He's also going to not try and speculate on the 'she's trained' comment for the sake of his own sanity.]

Alright. [Gestures to the place, smiling still.] After you.

Thanks. [Korra makes her way inside and takes the table right near the window. For some reason, being able to see Naga felt important.]

I think exercise was one of my things too. Either that or someone left a lot of gym equipment in my suite.

[But to more important things.]

What kind of food do they have here?

[Well Rory is not fussy about where he seats as long as it means he can, well, sit. So no worries at all.

He settles down easily, a wry smile still on his face as Korra remarks about her suite. Its not that hard to imagine her as the type who exercises, really, especially considering her build. She does look well-built for her age.]

Uh-- [What kind of food, she asks...] --normal food? [One thing is for sure though: it ain't British.] Its edible at least, so there's something.

[Not knowing what she likes and doesn’t like makes it hard to even decide on something, so:] I’ll just have what you’re having then.

[Trial and error? Maybe she isn’t a picky eater.]

[Well, that's fair.]

Alright. [With a nod, Rory calls over for the waiter and gets them two of the usual. Once the waiter is gone Rory instantly gets down to business, taking out the map he drew earlier and passing it over to Korra.]

Can you get burned in the Fire Sector? [There’s fire fountains there, or so she’s heard, and that just sounds like a mess waiting to happen.]

[Uh.]

Er--no, last time I checked.

[Where did you even get that idea??]

[Fire always burns stuff, she hasn't forgotten that part. But she nods, it's something she wants to bend now.]

So how much for the map? [Not everything's free, right?]

[And here Rory blinks. How much? Was he supposed to ask for a price? Its not like he really wants anything in return...]

I, uh, no. You don't need to pay for it. [Raises a hand here.] Don't worry about it.

Alright, I'm not about to turn down free art.

[Memories or not, Korra's usually got some extra snark to throw around. As she's looking it over, tracing her finger along the paths drawn out, she looks up.]

How long have you been here? [Because being able to draw a map from memory is pretty darn good in her book.]

[Free... art? Rory blinks for a moment here, not sure if he should take that as a compliment or not--but that is soon forgotten when Korra then moves on to another question.]

Well, a couple of months--not long like other people, but long enough to be used to this place by now, I guess.

[She only gives a smile at the blink. Playful compliment.]

I don't think I could ever get used to this whole- [Hand gesture.] turtle thing.

[~~Spoiler: She does.~~]

Are you doing okay in it then?

[Rory smiles wryly at the first bit. Nobody really gets used to it, he thinks, considering the circumstances in the first place. Of course, he knows he can easily be wrong, but for this matter...]

It always takes a while. [The smile widens a little.] But I'm doing well enough, thanks.

At least there're others in the same situation.

[It’s hard enough dealing without having any memories, but having to do so without any help.

Well, she doesn’t even want to think about it.

When their order arrives, her stomach growls loudly and goes on for a few moments. It surprises her just as much as anyone else.]

Guess I shouldn’t have skipped breakfast…

[A small nod here.]

I'm sure you'll recover your memories in time. They won't be gone for good. [Just like what the Doctor always says. Gone, but never forgotten. Considering how he's experienced it for himself, its something Rory can be certain about with fault.

He blinks in surprise too at just how loud Korra's stomach is growling, but once she says she's skipped breakfast Rory is in mother hen mode.]

You shouldn't skip breakfast; it's the most important meal of the day. [A bit of chiding, as he gestures to their food.] Make sure to eat more to make up for it.

[It's a relief to know that someone other than her is optimistic about her memories coming back. That food does smell good, enough that she’s not going to try and be any more modest about the meal than she has to be. After a few forkfuls, Korra just kicks into her normal mode of eating without even trying.

How much food can she fit in her mouth? Well, apparently she’s set to find out.]

Thanks, I really worked up an appetite today. [How she’s able to speak clearly with one cheek bulging with food is one the turtle’s greatest mysteries.]

[Yeah Korra just how much of an appetite do you have, its kind of alarming. Rory just has to take a moment and just... stare... because its pretty amazing. In a weird way. He certainly hopes you don't intend to clear the entire establishment.]

It's nothing. [Manages to smile politely still, as he helps himself to his own food and eats with alarming normality.] If you need more food, feel free to call for it.

Nah, this should be fine. [How she can say that as she continues stuffing her face, and sometimes even stopping to chew, is something else entirely.

She points her fork at him as she finishes taking a drink; yes, with mouth still full.]

You should eat more. It’ll help with the cold weather.

[It will indeed forever be one of the wonders of the universe--or at least on this giant turtle.]

If you're sure. [He continues to eat his food, only stopping after another bit when Korra points at him, and the comment makes him quirk another smile.]

Yeah, I know. Thanks for the reminder. [Not at all condescending, but clearly genuine and true. Rory is aware, of course, but its nice when people keep it in mind still. Makes him feel good.]

[Giving a nod after being heard, Korra swallowed her food.]

Your wife does cook right, or do you do that? [He mentioned he was married earlier, and that made Korra wonder enough to ask. Politely innocent just before she starts chugging down her drink.]

[Rory does a mini-shrug at the question.]

Either one of us, whoever has more time. [But for all intents and purposes, Rory is the more experienced one between them.] I prefer to do it more than her, though.

Yeah? Is she here?

[On the turtle is what she means of course, and it doesn’t even strike that might be a sensitive subject.]

[A blink. That was... direct. But at least Rory has experience in dealing with being asked direct questions due to the Doctor, so for the most part he manages to brush it off.]

Ah--no, she's not. [An almost sad smile here.] For the better, really. She would never get enough of this place.
