[ Casey opens with about five seconds of space to start with, since he's rechecking his console operational stats as a precaution. His voice is stiff and a little muffled, but easy enough to understand. ]

Alright. Definitely got this working! [ Moderately loud enthusiasm abounds for a brief moment there, and it is promptly tamped down. ] Sorry. I asked about how these worked just to be safe, but I also hear I got a pretty thick skull, y'know? [ And here there are two quiet thumps followed by a light hiss, because he sure did knock on the side of his head for emphasis. ] Wanted to make sure I got it.

So, uh. Hey. Name's Casey. I'm from New York, and if you don't know what that means, I feel sorry for ya. I guess I'm here to wake up half-drowned and defeat evil like everyone else? The half-drowned thing is pretty new, but I actually have some experience with evil, so here's hopin' I can put myself to good use. I mean, between giant turtles and fightin' bad guys and studying for English Lit., I'll take the bad guys.

If there's anything bigger than the welcome wagon that a guy should be let in on or a familiar face or somethin', though, I'd really appreciate gettin' that outta the way now. Maybe directions to a good sports equipment store? [ Pauuuuse. ] Thanks. Really.

[ That equipment store is really important though. ]

[There are a lot of things Tess could talk about, if she was inclined. Bad things, mostly. The kinds of things that keep her awake at night, and plague her with nightmares when she does manage to sleep. Things from back home, things from the bottle, things that are really Ellie's to tell and not hers at all.

Death and loss and violence, and more death.

But fuck that. She's got something way more important to talk about. Like her hair.]

I found a gray hair today. [She twists her face into an approximation of disgust.] Can you believe that? So now I'm wondering if I should just dye it. [She tugs on a lock of her mousy brown hair - shinier and healthier than it was when she first showed up, that's for damn sure, but otherwise not particularly notable.]

But I don't remember the first thing about it. Anybody got tips for me? Or is it a shitty idea and I should forget it?

Video: Looking for work

Um... hello... [Apart from the lesson from the Kedan on his first day Taiki has never really used his computer. Sometimes he has watched or read posts, but never responded. It feels too much like interrupting.

He's never made one either, but he's been here a month now and he still hasn't managed to get a job. He's a bit worried that people will start getting mad at him for it]
Um... I'm Taiki, I live in the Water District and um... I was told I needed to get a job and um... I didn't know who to ask...

[He's ten and his job back home was what he exists to do, so the concept of applying for work is new] Um... I'm not sure what I could do, I can fly really fast, and um... I can read and write and I will work really hard.

video;

[The first thing the network sees is a big piece of paper with something written in it with dark ink, and careful calligraphy. For those who understand, it says 'Fai Zhang son of Emily Zhang', 'The strongest dragon of them all' ... and 'I like rice'.

Grandma Zhang had really tried to teach him Chinese but he had barely listened, okay, it was actually hard for him to remember that much.
]

So... [After a few moments he moves the paper from the camera and the network gets a view of Frank, looking slightly awkward. It's been a while since he made an actual post on the network. Ever since he lost his voice, actually.] Is there anyone who can understand this? It's Chinese, at least that's what it's called where I'm from. If so, could you teach me? I'll pay.

I'm not sure how much I should pay for this, so just... pick your price? Like, I'm not loaded or anything so keep that in mind.

[He shrugs. Really bad at this, for srs.]

Also, I was given this. [He shows the network... a little bag of purple candy. Or what looks like candy anyway.] By Milyn, that [Uh] really happy doctor who helped us all when we ghosted out and later, to recover what we'd missed and cleansing in the ritual. She's nice, or she seems nice, but yeah.

Candy given by strangers. You see how that could end up badly. So is there anyone who could analize it or something? Tell me if it's safe for consumption? I'll also try to pay for that. [Rich kid, never really had to think about money, etc.]

Thanks!

( video )

[A man appears on the network of indeterminate age, extremely short-- under five feet tall, easily-- with a slight hunch to his posture and Germanic features. His eyes are sharply alive, bright with challenge. There's no hesitation as he speaks, in a gravelly kind of accent that sounds almost Russian, the words flowing quickly as he makes them up on the spot.

Right now, he desperately needs intel of all kinds, and eventually a spotter to watch him while he uses his seizure inducer. That fact he's assiduously ignoring. He'd checked his neurotransmitter levels this morning, and he has at least three days, even with all the stress of arrival. No, four days, probably. Five. Really, he can go a lot longer without one than the ImpSec medical staff had given him credit for. --Focus, Vorkosigan.]

So. I see you all have quite a neat set up here. Let's not waste time. Who can bring me up to speed, ex tempore? Surely we have more intelligence than "don't say its name" on our bogey man. Since confirmed facts are likely to be scarce, personal accounts would be acceptable.

I'm also taking proposals for getting miserably drunk at the bar, as is traditional in times of drawn out peril. I need someone to drag me home, y'see; alcohol has quite a soporific effect on my constitution. [And Ivan is unfortunately not here to do the dragging. Miles ignores the resulting pang that inspires in him.

Then he hesitates imperceptibly, the memory of his previous catastrophic failure to report his seizures clanging loudly through his brain. No. He can't ignore this, much as he'd like to. The only thing that scares Miles more than never going home is turning into a vegetable, mindless and drooling. He can at least do the preliminary investigation about options.]

Information about local medical facilities would be appreciated as well. They're not all-- er, at this level of technology, are they? [He looks dubious about anyone surviving on that level of medical care, but immediately recovers with a wide, convincing smile.] I'd just like to know preemptively for when I wake up with a skull splitting headache.

[ Eren looks surprisingly calm-- the calmest he’s been on the network, that’s for certain. It seems like spending a few weeks here has significantly lowered his ridiculous rage levels. (thank fuckkk) ]

I understand that there’s been some sort of... magic? Happening? [ He looks off screen for a second, getting confirmation that this bullshit is probably magic. ]

While I don’t really get magic and I won’t pretend to, I’m sure there are others here who are more familiar with this sort of thing. I think this has gone on long enough, so if you’re listening... I was wondering if you could reverse the changes that have occurred. I can pay you—- In services or anything you need, really. I don’t have much money.

But my friend, he’s... She’s...

[ He pauses for a moment to look off screen again with the most title or description face ever. This is a very long pause. It is very awkward. But eventually a figure in a green hooded mantle enters the screen. They remove the hood to ~*~*dramatically~*~*~ reveal...

Well, it’s decidedly Armin. Blonde hair (longer), inquisitive blue eyes (bigger). The way he stands is still the same. And he was never particularly manly to begin with, so the change isn’t very drastic (at least while that cape is still on). But it’s easy to tell, he is now a she.
]

I know this has to be some kind of mistake. [Even his voice is an octave higher than usual.] I’ve seen the other posts people have been making. Please, tell me, is there an antidote? I dread thinking what would happen if I were stuck in this body for any prolonged period of time...

[ Eren looks like it's slowly dawning on him that "magic" might be contagious. please dont let it be contagious thank u very much ]

We appreciate any and all help! Thank you for your time!

[ Armin and Eren as usual, because they're co-dependent nerds. ]

VIDEO ★ 003

[ It may be a different face lighting up the network, but she certainly has the same wonderfully disgruntled expression. ]

This is Leonard McCoy, speakin' on behalf of Dr. Natu's clinic. Obviously there's been an [ What the hell do you even call this? ] outbreak. If ya haven't noticed it yet, you should probably look in a mirror.

While I'm sure we're all lookin' for answers [ Especially from a certain spell reader down there COUGH COUGH! ] they aren't here. Unless there is a medical emergency or a severe reaction to this spell that threatens life and limb, we can't take anymore walk-ins at this time.

However, if anyone's willin' to volunteer for blood and tissue samples, and some questions, please come down to the clinic. I'd appreciate it.

McCoy out.

[ He She will be down at the clinic the next few days helping anyone who needs help/support/first-aid/a drink. Open log here as well. ]

I swear I will hunt you down!

fourth hunt ✗ ( voice )

[After trying to process things for days, she's finally willing to poke herself about again. She's been mostly alone in her rooms.]

If this place is all you have, what would you do? If home isn't an option any more, what things would you want to do here?

If nothing matters... [She's tense, sounding depressed.]

I guess I should make a list of things I've never done and do them. I just don't know where to start. Or do all the things I like to do. Me and my mom used to go hiking, but I guess I can't really do that here.

[She just sort of fades off before shutting the feed off.]

05 ☣ TEXT & VOICE;

Looking to gather some info. Please respond with succinct list of what you would consider unalterable laws of reality in your home dimension, e.g. gravity, conservation of mass, particular laws of magic.

Will attempt to compile results into meaningful commonalities across dimensions. Maybe there's a universal law somewhere.

Would prefer text response if possible. Thanks.

VOICE.

An odd question, I am sure, but I wonder...

I thought of the ghosts and the waters, and the idea that death could be just around the corner. That is that those of us that are just about to slip into that darkness may one day wake up to be choking on our own blood.

Forgive me for such a ... unfortunate image, but my point is ... how many of you have someone who you are close to? How many can say that you have met someone who makes your life worth it all, even if death may be so close? Even if this may all just be a dream?

This need not be romantic, I suppose, but friendship as well.

After all, sometimes it is friendship that can save a life, too, right?

006; video;

[Shepard looks a little less military-formal and a little more plain old contemplative today. This post is less about making an announcement or speech, perhaps, and more about making connections.]

I don't suppose many others here find the turtle diving sort of... comforting. Being underwater reminds me of space. There's no day-night cycle when you're in the black. It's really disconcerting at first, but after a while, you learn to sleep when your body needs to, rather than when the clock tells you it's night.

I was only just starting to get used to being on Earth again, when I was brought here. I hadn't been back in years.

[She sort of squints vaguely into the distance for a moment, like she's lost in a memory, her brow furrowed. Then she snaps back to herself and addresses the screen with a bit more of her usual professionalism.]

To the newcomers, I'm Commander Jane Shepard - Alliance Navy. [A brief hesitation, as she almost says formerly, but she's not willing to deal with that just yet.]

If anyone needs something to do, and you have medical or defense experience, let me know. I've got some teams working on emergency preparedness plans, and we could always use more help.

1st Proverb - Video

[When the feed kicks on, a slightly dorky looking young man appears on the screen - another new face, it would seem, but maybe less perturbed than most. In fact, he's beaming, all pretty white (if a little gappy) teeth and three big, bright eyes fixed on the camera.

...Three?

He speaks, his voice almost incongruously velvety.]

Helloooooo?

Hello!

Well, I have to say, this was a bit of a surprise! I was thankful for the welcoming committee, but I wasn't expecting to wake up in anything resembling this! In fact, it's the third largest turtle I have ever encountered! Wonders never cease.

[There isn't a trace of sarcasm to be found anywhere in his tone.]

The suite is much better than my apartment, I must admit. I might grow, in time, to miss the steady chanting in the wee, dark hours of the morning...but for now, I'm going to enjoy the change of pace!

After all - I haven't traveled this far from Night Vale since...well, since I backpacked through Europe when I was younger! And let me tell you, there were no turtles involved in that.

Except the one.

But he was a total. Jerk.
strategisch: (distracted)

1st; video

[The feed begins without warning, picturing a young blonde boy sitting at his console. He’s slowly—oh so slowly, like the world’s most meticulous woodpecker—typing at the keyboard. One letter at a time. Tap. Tap. Tap. His gaze keeps switching from his hands to his screen, squinting, cocking his eyebrow, leaning in or out to get a better look, with an expression of concentration so intense it’s a wonder he hasn’t set fire to anything yet.]

[It’s obvious he’s never seen a computer, or anything remotely like it, in his life.]

[In the background, another boy is pacing around. Despite looking far more ragged than Armin, he seems to have limitless energy. He’s moving furniture, asking if Armin’s gotten the “lightsbox” working yet, switching light switches on and off, and eventually settling for carrying a lamp around.]

[They're both wearing a peculiar sort of uniform with a winged emblem on the shoulder and back, and for some reason, a very complex harness of belts.]

[Armin keeps on hunting and pecking as he was until he glances up to the monitor again, and notices something different.]

Recording…?

[He looks up out of the corner of his eye as he tries to remember what he was explained that implies. Surprise crosses his face as it returns to him.]

Ah, yes, recording-- Eren! I think I've gotten it to start showing us to everyone else!

[His friend shouts from the background]

Ask who's there! Anyone we know? Who's there?!

I suppose that's as good of a question as any... Is there anyone out there that we would know?

My name is Armin Arlert, of the 104th Trainee's Squad, presently in the Scouting Legion-- although I doubt that holds much weight here. Anyone from our "world" would be familiar with those terms though, so please, if you are, respond. And anyone else for that matter, who isn't a Kedan; what is Keeliai, exactly? Why are we brought here? What is beyond these walls? What could this city possibly be a stronghold against?

[He looks concerned, and leans back in his chair a little. There had to be some sort of threat, if they bothered with security... And he tended to think of such things in bad-as-possible terms.]

[Eren seems very grimly determined to ruin his eyesight as he tries to figure out how electricity works, switching his lamp on and off.]

...This place can't be any good if Mikasa isn't here too. [He mutters bitterly.]

[Armin sighs, because he feels the same way. He stares off blankly.]

We'll find her. It's only a matter of time.

ooc: [Joint post between Armin Arlert and Eren Yaeger. Specify who you want, or not, or both! Expect threadjacking, and lots of it.]
